DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Bernie Sanders defended his call for raising Americans' taxes in exchange for lower heath care costs, as he opened a candidate forum Monday night that served as a platform for Democratic presidential hopefuls to make a closing argument to voters one week before the Iowa caucuses.
"Yes, we will raise taxes," said Sanders, an admission rarely heard in presidential campaigns. "We may raise taxes, but we are going to eliminate private health insurance premiums for individuals and businesses."
Sanders would replace the nation's existing employer-based system of insurance with one in which the government becomes a "single payer," providing coverage to all. It would eliminate co-pays and deductibles, and Sanders' argues, bring health care spending under control.
A self-described democratic socialist, Sanders cast his governing philosophy Monday as one reflecting that "the right for economic security should exist." But he sidestepped a question about whether his policies would mean an era of big government.

He “convenienly” leaves out the part about the huge cut that goes to the worthless, lazy government bureacracy which wlll under his single payer plan include all the “healthcare profesionals” who now collect paychecks that approximate those of sanitation workers. Plus all the union work rules and the “prayer accommodation” for all of our “new” Muslim doctors. The whole government runs on the basic principle of “Free $hit,” but when it comes to the Leftists everything is now “Free $hit,” and you simply hand over your paycheck and are “kept!”

With all due respect to Sen. Sanders, the remainder of this post will explain why low-information Sanders is an excellent example why the ill-conceived 17th Amendment should never have been ratified imo.
Regardless that Sanders took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution, I would not be surprised if Sanders is clueless that Congresss constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers do not include the specific power to regulate, tax and spend for INTRAstate healthcare issues.
In fact, regardless what lawlass Obamas activist justices want everybody to think about the constitutionality of Obamacare, a previous generations of state sovereignty-respecting justices had clarified that the states have never delegated to Congress, expressly via the Constitution, the specific power to tax and spend for intrastate healthcare purposes. This is evidenced by the following excerpts from Supreme Court case opinions.
Regarding the Obamacare insurance mandate for example, note the fourth entry in the list below from Paul v. Virginia. In that case state sovereignty-respecting justices had clarified that regulating insurance is not within the scope of Congresss Commerce Clause powers (1.8.3), regardless if the parties negotiating the insurance policy are domiciled in different states.
”State inspection laws, health laws, and laws for regulating the internal commerce of a State, and those which respect turnpike roads, ferries, &c. are not within the power granted to Congress. [emphases added]” - Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
”Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States.” - Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
”Inspection laws, quarantine laws, health laws of every description [emphasis added], as well as laws for regulating the internal commerce of a state and those which respect turnpike roads, ferries, &c., are component parts of this mass.” -Justice Barbour, New York v. Miln., 1837.
” 4. The issuing of a policy of insurance is not a transaction of commerce within the meaning of the latter of the two clauses, even though the parties be domiciled in different States, but is a simple contract [emphasis added] of indemnity against loss.” - Paul v. Virginia, 1869. (The corrupt feds have no Commerce Clause (1.8.3) power to regulate insurance.)
”Direct control of medical practice in the states is obviously [emphases added] beyond the power of Congress.” - Linder v. United States, 1925.

When patriots elect Trump or Cruz or whatever conservative they elect, they need to also elect a new, state sovereignty-respecting Congress that will work within its Section 8-limited powers to support the president.
Also consider that such a Congress would probably be willing to fire state sovereignty-ignoring activist justices.

When Gore was running again W, I remember the debate moderator asking what each candidate believed the definition of marriage was. Though Gore said “one man and one woman,” I knew we were in a bad place to have such a question even asked.
The fact that Sanders feels free admitting he’s a socialist gives me that same feeling. When people aren’t shocked and angered across the board by his proclamation, we are in a very bad place.
And every small business will lose their health care premium deductions on taxes, punishing them doubly.
We’ve already seen the results of it in our welfare culture. Why work when you can get cash, ebt, Medicaid, section 8 housing, etc. People have figured it out and the roles just keep growing.
