They wanted to conserve self government and keep government limited.

Actually it was the Tories or Loyalists who wanted to keep their Colonial form of limited self government...not the radicals at Lexington and Concord.

Conservatives generally speaking are not in the forefront of radical change.

I understand that the Tories were in favor of keeping their current government....but are you saying that the “radicals at Lexington and Concord” were not in favor of limited government? Just trying to make sure I understand your point.
