Cruz snags support of pro-family leader
Washington Examiner ^ | 1/22/16 | Anna Giaritelli

Former Family Research Council president Gary Bauer endorsed GOP hopeful Ted Cruz Friday, saying the Texas senator embodies traditional family values.

"Ted Cruz is a courageous conservative who has built a consistent record on the issues that matter most," Bauer wrote in a statement.

Bauer, who served as under secretary of education and head of the White House Office of Policy Development in Ronald Reagan's administration, said Cruz is the "clear choice" for Reagan-aligned conservatives.

The pro-family leader ran for president in 2000 before founding the American Values nonprofit organization, which supports pro-life principles and traditional marriage values.

Bauer cited Cruz's consistent record on matters of religious liberty and abortion as two factors in his endorsement, also noting the Tea Party conservative's tax plan and foreign policy views as other reasons he was confident in endorsing him.

Cruz said he is honored to have Bauer's support.

If Cruz has all these endorsements, why is he still losing by double digits in almost every state poll, and in EVERY national poll? It seems that these endorsements aren’t helping him any.

Because over half of conservatives aren’t supporting Cruz. If you don’t believe it take a look at the Caucus Poll here at FR.

Gary Bauer was one of McLame’s butt-boys back during the 2008 campaign.

Because most of them are from people most of us have never heard of.

Gary Bauer is naught but a past wannabee and weak sister. The idiot actually fell off a stage while campaigning for the POTUS. His campaign for POTUS was short lived!!! He will do Ted Cruz no good whatsoever. However.......Bauer will do better for Cruz then that insane moron.....Glenn Beck!!! Cruz must have been high on “MaryJane, reefer” or nuts, to even go near Glenn Beck...LMAO, at these idiots!!!

That, and Ted gets the endorsements of conservative politicians and former politicians who indeed aren’t known (with the exception of Steve King).

He gets the endorsements of social conservatives and evangelicals and it would seem even a lot of “conservative” Americans are basically saying, “Well yeah, God is good and all but we really don’t care about getting the country back to following Him. There are other things more important.”

Which, I, and others like me no doubt maintain that those other things, while indeed important, are problems that go hand in hand with turning away from doing things God’s way.

and, endorsements really don’t mean anything unless they’re from someone like Sarah Palin, who has 4.5 million Facebook likes and 1.2 million followers on Twitter who will see instant updates of everything she posts.

Gary Bauer has 134,000 Facebook likes and 4,433 people following him on Twitter - do the math. His endorsement is worth, at most, about 3.6% of what a Palin endorsement is worth.

I honestly thought he was dead.

Didn’t he run for president and fell off the stage in NH trying to catch a pancake.

It’s sad that so many have compromised themselves to the point that they reject doing the right thing when it’s in front of them. There is a pathway back from that if they so choose to take it.

Opening is a bit weak, but it flows better than most Cruz supporter rants. Work on the dismount and you could have a good one here.

5/10

He was ahead in the last California poll (Field). He is ahead or within the margin of error in Iowa for some time.

He is far ahead of where he was just a couple of months ago, when he was stick at 10% with Rubio and Carson.

We don't know how Trump's non-traditional supporters will turn out. I think he'll do fine, but we don't know yet. We also don't know who voters will break towards when the Rubios and Bushes and Christies disappear.

Someone is going to be the "not Trump" choice. Cruz should certainly be the best choice for that position, even by Trump's own supporters.

Yeah there is.

I fear some people would rather learn the hard way though.
