5:15AM in Carroll County, MD and we have a foot now. It’s powdery - blowing everywhere. I’ll wait until it is light out to go down to the barns. It’s so light that it has piled up on the shrubs but the branches are not bent.
We strung ropes from the house to the fence, and between fence lines, so if there is a whiteout while we are in the barns we have a guide back to the house. I hope that was done with an overabundance of caution, but better to have it and not need it...
That's a pretty smart thing to do. Some years back, a lady in South Park couldn't find her way back to her house after feeding her horses in a blizzard (only 300 feet away) and froze to death.
