Wow, I hope your husband is all right. Haven’t even begun to shovel — just couldn’t face it. There are drifts up against both doors front and back. Went out and cleared off the steps to put out bird seed, under an overhang, but even with the overhang, the seed kept getting covered up and they were pecking down into the snow. Poor lil critters. It’s one of my favorite things about snow days, though, getting to see the really pretty birds close up. Bluejays, cardinals, woodpeckers, doves, sparrows, and the food fights with them and the squirrels are a sight to behold. I try to separate them by putting some seed under the steps and some on top, and that seems to help.

The streets haven’t even been plowed, and it’s a hilly, winding road, so... Our church will be closed today, anyway.

There was a great sale on Progresso soup last week, and I’m also set for grilled cheese, bacon and eggs, fruit, salad, applesauce, jelly, bread, pork chops, meatballs, lemonade, coffee, chocolate, quinoa, rice, beans, avocados, pasta, ricotta, yogurt, olives, nuts, frozen pizza, oatmeal — there is even enough toilet paper, and the power’s still up, so nothing to fear. The only scary thing is falling down.

Guess it will be shoveling time when the sun gets high.

Hope all is well with you and glad to hear your daughters were out helping with the snow!! It’s polenta with bolognese gravy weather!

Snow is over in Metropolitan DC. Looked at the maps I posted a few hours ago. DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia are all clear, remnant bands of snow in NJ, coastal NY and Mass. I am 77 and have been sharing the shoveling with my 71 year old sweetheart. I have been eating lightly, and drinking water before going out. We have shoveled every 4 to 6 inches. About 40 feet and the steps and stoop. We have well over 2 feet. Fortunately it is a light powdery snow, so am able to whisk it away with my arms rather than having to use my body much. Stop every 4 to 5 shovels, stand straight and breathe until my wind is normal. Had a good long nap this afternoon. Am now going out to do the last 2 or 3 inches so no one slips and sues me. Then a late light snack and to bed.

All masses were canceled yesterday and today here, too. Everyone is still digging out, lol.

I made Pastina soup, Spanish rice and tacos yesterday and had enough left over for today.

He’s doing ok. Did the same thing today with the same result but doing ok again now. I’ll keep an eye on it.

I hear you about falling. I haven’t been out and haven’t helped with shoveling. We got 2’ or close to it. I have a meniscus tear that is healing so I’m not taking any chances!

We’ve been fortunate and haven’t lost power. You seem set meal wise :)
