Excellent yet infuriating movie. See it.

And thank you immensely to all the vets on FR who I’m sure are as brave as the incredible men portrayed in this movie.

More than that.
Why was the ambassador protected by only two, TWO!!! US personnel?

Out of like 300 embassies in the world, 12 were considered ‘critical’ Benghazi was one of them... and they had TWO??? US personnel? No marines? no soldiers? no nothing? just locally hired rent-a-cops?

My understanding is that the Libyan embassy had at its disposal a Jet, but got rid of it a few months or weeks before the attack. My understanding is that there was a team of US personnel (18 soldiers?) that were available till a few weeks before the attack, but that team was sent away.

All the above decision to reduce security personnel and available assets to the ambassador were made and were the purview of the ambassador’s boss, the Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton.

Now.. regarding what is explicitly depicted in the movie:

The (real) CIA station chief came out of retirement and obscurity and said:
“There never was a stand-down order,” said the base chief known as Bob, speaking publicly for the first time. “At no time did I ever second-guess that the team would depart.”

Read that statement carefully. Note that the GRS contractors had no authority to go on their own and WORKED for him. They could not just go.. he HAD to TELL them to go, which is not the same as saying at no time did I told them not to go.

What? Now civilian contractors to the CIA have freedom to come and go and engage troops in combat without being ordered to do so? They just free-float without their boss ‘second guessing them’?

I take the (real) Chief’s statement as a confirmation of what is depicted in the movie.

I am afraid it WILL infuriate me. The book about bj clunton called dereliction of duty will really piss you off when you read that bj had the chance to nail bin laden and had the plans of 9/11 on his desk in the oval office and did nothing.

and that bitch who Cant Understand Normal Thinking had the balls to ask Bush “What did the president know and when?”
I just want to live long enough to see these two die.
