On the campaign trail ahead of the 2012 New Hampshire primary, Mitt Romney didn't always come across as the most freewheeling candidate for president.
At event after event around the Granite State, the former Massachusetts governor and business executive didn't waver in his focus on President Obama and the pace of the economic recovery. Romney might not have been as wooden as caricatures of him suggested, but he wasn't lighting up the trail as a charismatic leader. He had traded the neckties of his 2008 bid for jeans and rolled-up sleeves, but he still seemed pretty buttoned down.
As a reporter for the Concord Monitor, I followed him around the state, trying my best to tell new and interesting stories about appearances that for the most part could be summed up by the headline on one of my July 2011 dispatches: "Romney focuses on economy."

It’s true. Trump otoh looks relaxed even when he’s wearing a suit and cufflinks. Which is most of the time. He’s just a more confident and natural guy imo. Not a stuffed shirt like Romney.
