Stop it, Sen. Cruz. Just stop.
The Washington Post ^ | January 21st, 2016 | By Jennifer Rubin

Posted on 01/21/2016 4:54:04 PM PST by Mariner

We get it. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) is rattled. He’s afraid of losing Iowa. He doesn’t know how to deal with Donald Trump. But he sure isn’t helping matters with embarrassing arguments. His latest: “Right now, the Washington establishment is abandoning [Sen.] Marco Rubio. They made the assessment that Marco can’t win this race, and the Washington establishment is rushing over to support Donald Trump.” Thunk. Let’s consider the ways in which this is unhelpful.

First, after spending months genuflecting to Trump as a kindred spirit, how can Trump be a closet establishment figure? Maybe Cruz isn’t a good judge of character. Maybe he was duped. In any event, it reminds us how cringe-worthy Cruz’s flattery of Trump was.

Second, no one cares. Voters are supposed to like Cruz more now because people he does not like (“the establishment”) shift from one opponent to another? It defies logic.

Third, if the establishment is abandoning Rubio, maybe anti-establishment voters should like him more. Or something.

Fourth, it sounds desperate, in part because, no one thinks Trump is a Beltway insider. If anything, it makes Trump look powerful insofar as insiders have to come to him.

I just did some research on Cruz’s Campaign Consultant, a man by the name of Jeff Roe. He is in my opinion a total sleeze and probably where NY Values came from. Read a little about him. Truth is not his priority.

Here's what I posted...

"When Bob Dole, Orrin Hatch, Chuck Grassly, Mitch McConnell, Lindsey Graham..et al...are buying into Trump... What does anyone here think???? This place has lost it's understanding of history.

Once again....I know what little Lindsey has said...but when he buy's into Trump..what will you think?

Do you get that?

Lindsey is a lying weasel...and eventually will support Chump....Because that's how the GOPe operates...They are already lining up...to to be on the "winning team"....

Hope you can understand that,...

There is a point at which the majority of the establishment will face reality, and since we know they like power above all else, will seek to catch a ride before the rounds the bend.

They will choose whomever they perceive as a winner, regardless of their actual level of support.

The one thing K St cannot afford is to be shut out in the cold come next Jan.

So eventually, the establishment will come along. Some may be starting early hoping to lay claim to early adoption. That doesn’t make Cruz or Trump part of the establishment, it means they are defeating them, and the establishment is trying not to get left behind.

That’s not how you phrased it and you know it . You phrased it like it has already happened . Nice try ... I don’t normally get bogged down in these trivial details , but you persisted and lost this exchange as a result .

This is the establishment’s last ditch effort to discredit Trump. Hopefully you can see that ...

Trump now more than ever !

I can move on from Cruz without a problem should a more consistently conservative candidate come along. But I'm sure as hell not going to reject Cruz to join the big government leftist big orange muppet and his alinskyesque clown car of zombified worshippers!

If I wanted a liberal president, I'd be posting on DU!

" he's not the horse to pick to win."

I picked him because he's going to burn it all down.

By winning without "them". GOPe, Orthodox, Establishment Conservatism, Democrats and the entire political/media establishment.

Just like a pasture with too many weeds, sometimes you just have to burn it.

I don't care what filth he spouts. I only care that he breaks the status quo. Permanently.

Well..you have no idea how I phrased it, in actuality. Do you? I phrased it the way I meant it.

Question...how is it a discredit when Bob Dole supports Trump?

Is Bob Dole a GOPe? Let me answer that..YES!! He is....

I expect many GOPe elites...to follow along....to swarm to Trump.

Not to discredit....but to support Trump. Because they want to belong, they want to tag along...they want to be in the game.

And Trump will take their support...He will use them. He's in the game too...............

I’ve thought about your angle , but they don’t roll that easy when it comes to their agenda. Perhaps they are trying to make nice, but I doubt it . They are nasty and vindictive people .
I think they are trying to create a wedge between Trump and his voters ... it won’t work

Jennifer Rubin has earned one thing in my book:

Don't read her articles, and don't believe anything she says.

She's the WaPo version of David Brooks. A pretend conservative for the media.

>>I picked him because he’s going to burn it all down.

Anarchy has never been my style.. :)

But, again, he’s not the horse to ride to victory, and he’ll only burn it down if he can build condos on it - with other people’s money. He’ll disappoint you there.

A lose, lose, IMHO.

I do appreciate the sentiment, but not the strategy.

Thanks for your reply.

No way is the establishment, after all the attacks they have directed at Trump, suddenly getting behind Trump.

Bingo! IMO, it's just as you said, get Trump out of the way and Cruz will be easy to take out so we (GOPe) can push Jebby!

You say Trump is not an establishment guy. Yet you are positive he will have no problem with making deals with the establishment.
Makes no sense.<<< BINGO!

(buying into “Hope and Change” again...with “HOPE” being the operative word..)
Now..having said that...if Trump is the nominee I’ll vote twice for him...and “hope”
