NORTH CONWAY, N.H. (AP) -- Ted Cruz is decidedly at odds with the scientific consensus that Earth is warming because of human activity.
A look at some of the Republican presidential contender's claims on the subject in New Hampshire this week and how they compare with the facts:
CRUZ: "The satellites that actually measure the temperature, that we've launched into the air to measure the temperature, they have recorded no significant warming whatsoever for the last 18 years."
THE FACTS: Scientists, including those who work with the very satellite measuring system that Cruz refers to, say he's misusing the satellite data. They do show warming, albeit relatively little over the period Cruz cites, says Carl Mears, senior scientist for Remote Sensing Systems, which produces the data that Cruz refers to.
But by starting his comparison period in 1997, Cruz has selected a time when temperatures spiked because of an El Nino weather pattern. Starting at an artificially high point minimizes the rate of increase since then, Mears said, adding, "If you start riding your bike at the top of a big hill, you always go downhill, at least for a while."
More important is what's measured at the Earth's surface, where people live, Mears said. Those ground-based systems show a greater degree of warming.
The long-term trend that Mears' satellites show is about 0.7-degree warming since 1979, when satellites started measuring temperature. Ground-based monitors show a warming of about 1 degree during the same period. And 1979 was not among the top five hottest or coldest years in the 36 years of records.

Calling for ??? some saying 18” some saying 30” I guess we’ll see what we get in Hagerstown when it is all done.
Certainly after the numbers have been "cooked" by GISS Massive-tampering-with-temperatures-in-south-america
And if you pick your starting point at a cold period, you are likely to show a warming trend. Progressive statist are disingenuous. Not worthy of debate. Transcend them. Ignore them. El Nino is when the Pacific cools. Not warms. DC will find out how glaciers are formed in situ this weekend. Solar Cooling trend combined with lack of Pacific trade winds. Viola. DC is getting hammered.
Business Insider gets every single issue wrong. That means there is a good chance it is run by the CIA.

Yes, man contributes CO2 to the atmosphere. If the CO2 drops too much, plants will refuse to grow. During the Creataceous (sp) period the levels of CO2 levels were thousands of times higher.
A lowering of temperatures creates world-wde glaciation. Very bad juju. Ocean levels rose beginning 12-13,000 years ago when comet/s hit the North American glaciers which at some points were two miles think. This released water on a massive scale. North American was scoured clean. Ocean levels rose considerably.
The Earth has gone through ice ages numerous times. Perhaps two dozen times man has been around. (150K years). The last one was the Little Ice Age 150 years ago.
The Holocene age (now) began 11,600 years ago. This is the longest period without a substantial ice age. Primarily, man is preventing the onset of ice age catastrophe by driving muscle cars.
I was at this Ted Cruz event in North Conway NH and he not only nailed the facts of the global warming/climate change farce (no significant warming, no consensus of scientists, inaccurate “scientific” data i.e. climate/temp measurement, no reason to destroy our economy over manufactured data...) but happily I also heard him nail the moonbat who asked the question about global warming. Cruz hit it out of the park with this one. And there was no discussion/comment about dominant-human-caused-climate change but based on his other comments, Cruz doesn’t believe that either. Don’t know where the Biz Insider got that idea.

“So therefore, they will freeze to death”
Well, I believe in Universal Cooling, myself, when the stars grow faint and Earth becomes a popsicle.
