Palin's complicated relationship with GOP leaders over the past eight years is a microcosm of the party's broader struggles with its most restive members. What started with an embrace by party leaders evolved into wary tolerance, followed by a potentially irreparable split.
So it's perhaps little surprise that Palin is re-emerging on the national political scene at this moment of reckoning for Republicans. While she's hardly the conservative kingmaker she once was, Palin remains a favorite of the tea party insurgency, and her endorsement of Donald Trump for the 2016 GOP nomination gives him an added boost of conservative, anti-establishment credibility.
"He's been going rogue left and right," Palin said Tuesday, with a beaming Trump standing by her side. "He's been able to tear the veil off this idea of the system."

One can only hope.
Many would pay good money to get a turn on the handle of the plunger.
The only people imploding are the Cruz folks, and the political left.
Two increasingly insane group of zealots looking to force people into supporting their candidate.
Dems Palin derangement Syndrome. And wishful thinking.
My personal opinion:
Palin looked at the polls, decided she wanted to be a king maker in the party or decided that if she was to remain relevant, should would need to be on the side of a winner.
Since the polls show that right now, Trump is going to be the winner, she joined his bandwagon with the idea of future claims of helping Trump win the nomination.
I.e. political calculus
Palin surrendered and hopped in bed with the biggest crony capitalist and establishment guy there is, the Trumpster.
I would not call it an implosion as much as triggering an epic temper-tantrum among the Cruzer. I expect it will get worse in the lead-up to Iowa. After that I hope reality sets in for them, I’m really tired of seeing FR polluted and bandwidth wasted on the never ending stream of re-posted blog crap.
I would like to ask you if you are really helping the situation by making such a statement?
I agree. Sarah does what’s best for Sarah.
Whatever her reasons were, I'm glad she picked Trump, he's my candidate and I'm happy because I liked her when she was Mc Cain's V.P. selection...
If she would have went with Cruz, none of you would be saying anything but good about her, that's they type of people you are, get what you want your just fine with it, don't get what you want and you stomp your feet, yell and have a hizzy fit like a two year old...
GO.TRUMP.GO!!! ALL THE WAY TO THE WHITE HOUSE!!!
Sarah Palin is a sellout...just like Ann Coulter.
What is he thinking? Won’t change a single Cruz supporter’s mind. Whose voters care what she thinks? Would love to know the answer to that.
It clearly explains what these two groups are.
Frankly why would anyone want to support any candidate these people push?
2012 - Palin Endorses Cruz - Cruz supporters rejoice "We love Sarah"
2016 - Palin Endorse Trump - Cruz supporters scream "Whore!!!"
I agree. If she’s the cause, fine. If Trump is, fine. But we need to bury the Whigs and create a new true American Party.
It was a funny somewhat accurate comment.
And, yes, conservatives are against ObamaTRADE
even though it did help Goldman Sachs and Ms. Cruz.
“He’s been going rogue left and right”
Assuming this is referring to the political/ideological spectrum, it’s a fascinating statement from Palin. She explicitly acknowleges that Trump has been all over the map ideologically, but says thats irrelevant in light if his potential to crack open the overall system.
It’s an indication that she sees the corrupt cronyist system as THE problem this cycle, one that transcends ideology or partisan identification.
Rogue = maverick. They are just words.
I'm now thinking Tine Fey gave her too much credit.
