i think jumping the shark fits with this...

Who am I to disagree? Phrase is used broadly a whole lot lately on FR to express distinctly varying ideas. I surmise the term is now accepted to mean whatever anyone wants to think it does, on FR anyway.

And yet, misuse of the phrase indicates a certain pliability (capitulation to the vulgar) in one's thought processes. Such as does avoiding proper punctuation in sentences. The kind of acts that label the posters with a diminished-capacity self-branding...like a tattoo.
