My DIL is half black and even though slavery represents a terrible heartache, we agree that the hardship they endured gave her, her family and her children prosperity, education and opportunities they wouldn’t have had if her forefathers had been left in Africa.
I wonder if slave ancestors, if asked today, would tell their descendants today that the sacrifice was worth it.
Good question. At least they'd have to tell their descendants that they owe the slave generations a huge debt of gratitude for the benefits they now enjoy ... or tell them to move to African en masse.
