Some folks, including Don Trump, think Senator Cruz is not entitled to run for president because he is not a "natural born" citizen. This matter was debated when John McCain ran for the office, yet it seems that the correct answers are still not generally appreciated. So...

John McCain's case is extraordinary. He is not a "natural-born" citizen because he was naturalized by act of Congress [snip]
So McCain, who should and could have been legally declared "natural-born", was naturalized instead. Congress never subsequently addressed the clumsy situation, though it could have laid the issues to eternal rest with a federal law precisely defining "natural-born"--as the 1790 act did.

I would care about this if I knew Cruz was going to be the nominee but since he has self destructed, I think Trump is the nominee so at this time, I don’t care what Cruz is.

This was brought up by Fox news in 2014 and others have mentioned it too. You can be damn sure the dems would raise the issue if Cruz is the nominee. NBC is not settled or defined. This is just another article by an armchair judge.
Ridiculous in the very first paragraph. The 1790 law did have that obvious error but it was promptly corrected by the 1795 immigration act. (and Congress lacks the direct power to change the constitution in the first place, of course...)

If Trump wins Iowa, the primary is over. Trump will get 50 states.
Cruz is gone. Try to accept it. It is over.
And no matter what laws are passed, if they conflict with the Constitution or if the law is unclear, that’s why the judiciary exists.
