Today, the 1 In 3 Campaign is hosting a six-hour livestream dedicated to promoting abortion, to celebrate the 43rd Anniversary of Roe v. Wade. The event, entitled âThe 2016 1 In 3 Campaign Abortion Speakout: The Peopleâs Brief,â features politicians including Wendy Davis, Rep. Barbara Lee and Rep. Tim Ryan, and celebrities including Lizz Winstead. Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards is also scheduled to participate.
The 1 In 3 Campaign promotes publicizing abortion stories in a positive light. Their pledge, which website visitors are encouraged to sign, states, âI will help build a culture of empathy, justice, and support for access to abortion care and for the 1 in 3 women who will have an abortion in her lifetime.â
However, this particular claim â that 1 in 3 women will have an abortion in their lives â was debunked over a year ago, yet abortion advocates continue to use this statistic to make abortion seem more common than what it really is. The number doesnât account for repeat abortions. In 2014, Live Action Newsâ Lauren Enriquez used the pro-abortion Guttmacher Instituteâs own numbers to counter this claim, saying:
Some pretty basic math demonstrates that the real number â far from being the over 33% required to claim â1 in 3 women will have an abortionâ â is under 28%â¦.
The promotional depiction of the 1 In 3 Campaign eventâs lineup also promotes pro-abortion group RH Reality Check, as well as Think Progress and B**** Media.
1 in 3 women who will have an abortion in her lifetime.
That number is depressingly high.
That means that everyday, we encounter dozens of women who had an abortion.
If I’m reading the below website correctly it would seem that when these old hens were young women that stat would have been true. However abortion rates have been dropping and it’s no longer 1 in 3.
It is more like 1 in 3 pregnancies with some women having (many) multiple abortions. Still depressing but not quite as bad as 1 in 3 women having killed a baby.
These numbers only include abortions and not the number of women who abort with Morning After Pills.
Some odd chars coming through in the paste. Thought that was fixed?
Or how about the withdraw or BC methods? Who knows how many millions we are missing in our future?
That number sounds way, way too high
Too many have abortions but not 50,000,000 women
Abortion Care - what nazi-esque doublespeak. Ripping apart unborn people is care. If it wasn’t horrific it’d be laughable.
That is not accurate. That number is an average. There are many less than 1 in three because a high percentsge of those that abort, do it more than once.
