The truth is you don't have to go way back to find that Trump always has been, and remains to this day, a typical New York City liberal. This explains why Trump so often engages in liberal tactics like victim blaming, blame-shifting, demagoguery, dishonesty, etc. And he does so usually through the exact same liberal media other liberals use. But don't just take my word for it.
Here's Trump in his own words:
If you think using Trump's 1999 interview where he admits his liberalism is unfair because it's too long ago, how about when Trump joined Bernie Sanders in advocating for a taxpayer-funded, single-payer healthcare system in 2015?
What Donald Trump is -- like him/like his positions or not -- is an American citizen who is not a "professional politician" but who is running for President ... exactly what the Founders had in mind when debating Article II.
This scares the hell out the political elite ... and that's a good thing!
That is so not true. Its hard to believe you re not just trying to mislead when the truth is so different.

If you look back over my 12 years posting on Freerepublic, you will see that I am very harsh on the republican party for not building the wall, but no wall will protect us from ourselves, or what we are becoming. The most important thing is who we are, it starts with you and I, otherwise we are just like those that seek to destroy us. Sorry if I sound preachy, but I am starting to think a lot Freepers are really not conservatives (not saying you’re one of them)...
Do you think when other candidates change their views in a matter of hours or days it might be more fair not to hold words from the 1990’s against Trump.

Do you think Al Sharpton might get a cabinet seat in a Trump presidency??? Or will he just get head of the EEOC???
No, and the Beatles didn’t compare themselves “personally” to Jesus Christ
Flies in the face of what he wrote in 2013. The difference between 2013 and now: Trump wasn’t trying to get Republicans to vote for him.
Since you asked, I think Sharpton will be offered neither position by Trump.
Start opening your eyes to the NY liberal.
I have never heard this from Cruz, can you provide the link of him saying that?
Imagine what a NY liberal flip-flopping Trump would appoint for two or three SCOTUS vacancies.
Wow. You’ve never heard of the Golden Rule, have you? Talk about uncalled for comments.
And RUDE!!
Words mean things. It’s dishonest cheat the meaning.
It’s a liberal trait that FR is dedicated to exposing.
Using an iPhone at an airport, so limited in my abilities.
But thanks, I will use the link in the future.
The links are all in the original article.
Ya think you might want to see what the man has actually said rather than mouthing the gotcha manipulated quotes? You have to actually read them through rather than going into point like a bird dog at the first word you don’t like. Trump’s version of Universal Healthcare is market based with a saftey net for the indigent. That’s what he means not single payer.
Trump has consistently said he supports marriage “between a man and a woman” whenever asked over the years, including by The Advocate in 2000. Even in the Meet the Press interview from 1999 that Cruz is using to make his attack about New York values, Trump never endorses marriage equality, instead saying it’s “too premature for me to comment on.”
In a 2000 interview with The Advocate, Trump reaffirmed his belief that “the institution of marriage should be between a man and a woman.” He expressed support for “a very strong domestic-partnership law that guarantees gay people the same legal protections and rights as married people.

Think Hillary’s friend Trump would appoint her to a SCOTUS vacancy?
Trump: “Iâve known her and her husband and I really like them both a lot, and I think she really works hard... I think she does a good job... The record of Hillary Clinton and how did she do as Secretary of State probably above and beyond everybody else.”
Those quotes are from 2000-2015.
What statement are you referring to? The quote where he admired Scotland’s system and said it worked for them? He said right in the same conversation that such a system would never work here.
Donald Trump rejected democrat attempts to woo him in 1987.

Democrats Won’t Woo Big Business - Tom Wicker
“Donald Trump, the New York real estate tycoon, has rejected an invitation to play host to the 25th annual Democratic Congressional dinner next year, and for that all good Democrats should give thanks today and hereafter.
That’s not just because Trump’s big-money ventures in New York and his casino interests in Atlantic City have made him a controversial figure, or even because he is a Republican who says he has no intention of becoming a Democrat.
It’s because the invitation to Trump was tendered by Speaker Jim Wright and Rep. Beryl Anthony of Arkansas primarily in another forlorn Democratic attempt to do what Democrats will never do: win the confidence of “the business community...”
Trying to change someone's words to mean what you want them to mean indicates you have no argument.
