It was his poison pill that gave the pro amnesty vote cover to vote against it. That is what a poison pill amendment does.

The Gang-of-Eight bill passed the Senate 68-32 on June 27, 2013. It is my understanding that every amendment offered was defeated. What Ted Cruz is doing is claiming that some of his offered, but defeated amendments, were intended to be poison pills.

Either I'm confused, or some of his followers are confused on this thread. So, please tell us what Cruz "poison pill" amendments were passed and attached to the Gang-of-Eight bill.

They were all were amendments designed so to expose the original intent of the bill as being primarily an amnesty/citizenship bill moreso than a comprehensive immigration bill. By the denial of the Cruz etal amendments the Gang of Eight were exposed naked as to their original intent, hence leading to it’s defeat.

If you want exact specifics you will have to look it up yourself, I do not have the knowledge to figure it out. I do not have underlings to do it like Trump has.

No, we remember what was going on at the time because Cruz told us what he was doing and why he was doing it. He kept saying that it was going to work because he was exposing the true intent of the bill.
