Where did you hear that? Multiculturalism is a Marxist term that came out of the Frankfurt School of Social Theory. It was promulgated by nasty old European men and gay theorists in France (Michel Foucault) eventually taken up by pipe-smoking professors at the University of Chicago. Don't lay this on women.

Very true. I was talking to one of those a couple of years ago in the UK, he mentioned the loss of rights and autonomy for me as a necessary casualty of multiculturalism, I told him he’d have to sleep sometime (if you catch my drift), he persisted so I told him the ugly truth of how this would go down. He didn’t talk to me very long after that!

I didn't hear it, I read it.

Back in the late '70s and early '80s, female academics were big into multiculturalism.

That doesn't mean no male pseudointellectuals were involved.

Really, Germanic professors who hated jazz invented multiculturalism? Not so much. And the French theorists came up with their ideas on their own without much influence from the Frankfurt School.

So far as I can tell, multiculturalism started in Canada and was picked up by the European Union. It had precursors in the reality of Central Europe and the idea of "transnational America" a century ago.

Sure, Foucault and other theorists inspired multiculturalism in the universities, but governments and bureaucrats got there first.
