The IS assault on government-held areas in the city began at dawn on Saturday, Syria's Local Coordination Committees (LCC) said.

A car bomb explosion was followed by a ground attack, the LCC said.

Government forces retaliated with air strikes and heavy artillery, the report said.

Russia said it had dropped aid to civilians caught up in the siege. There have also been reports of Russian airstrikes in the vicinity......

I look at their source for these reports, Syrian Human Rights Observatory out of London fairly often.

In fact, that’s their main story now; http://www.syriahr.com/en/?p=42828

“135 person from the regime forces and gunmen loyal to them and Baathists and their families were killed and executed when the “Islamic State” controlled Al-Bghiliyyeh neighborhood in Deir Ezzor”

They seem to be following things closely for whatever their ultimate motive is, ‘human rights’ or taking sides in the conflict.

Thanks for the link.

MacArthur said that in war there is ‘no substitute for victory’.

Most everything our leaders have touched militarily since WW 2 hasn’t resulted in a victory like WW 2.

Neither Obama nor the Republicans are committed to total victory against our terrorist enemies in this world in the WW 2 tradition.

At least Obama is sort of honest about calling the phony baloney bluff and bluster policy something that results in the enemy being ‘contained’.

It’s a sad and weird thing that I have reason to like Russian airstrikes.

In this case they are clearly reported attacking the Islamic State, not the ‘moderate jihad’ backed by Western politicians and the Saudi-Gulf Arab interests.

Washington has complained about Russian attacks on the ‘moderates’ in the past.

A lot of stories use them for a source, SHRO, they be good or bad in people’s eyes, they’ve been hacked two times by ISIS and went offline.

They seem to report on all sides; when the US coalition hit civilians, relatively rare, that is reported.

They also have a wide assortment of editorial writers who they take from.

I try to read a wide array of sources,

(The biggest group of Christians) Assyrian International News Agency http://aina.org/

One of the Kurdish news sites: http://ekurd.net/ which is of limited use really because there are so many stories.

And so on.
