PORTSMOUTH, N.H. â At a campaign rally Saturday, Donald Trump expressed concern about college tuition costs and the swift growth of student loan debt in the United States but offered no specifics on what he would do about it.
"It's one of the biggest questions I've had from young people," the Republican presidential front-runner told a student in the crowd who asked the billionaire to share his solution to the issue prioritized by many young voters.
Trump, who's shared very little on how we would tackle the worsening crisis, stumbled through his answer. He criticized the federal government's meddling in higher education and promised to create more jobs.
"I often tell my supporters I'll be the greatest jobs president that God ever created," he said.

Oh... and by the way, did you know that Trump is ahead all the polls...?
WINNING!
ARRRGGGGHGGG! Oh wait that was Howard Dean... Oh well what's the difference?
Top men, Dr. Jones. Top men.
He is running his campaign more frugally than any other candidate. That is a good sign to me. Bush is a joke for all the money he is running through and very little to show for it. GO TRUMP GO
What is the single biggest cost of a university?
watch out, some trumpster will report you for criticizing the clinton donor
Actually, Donald Trump said that part of the problem was that the colleges are using the influx of student aide money to raise prices and that that was ultimately hurting the students.
So that should give you an idea of where he is going with this. I think he will find that Federal Grants to higher education also have had an adverse effect. We wouldn’t have the Global Warming Hoax without all the Federal funding of “climate” research.
There isn’t a sound-bit fix to this problem, and I, for one, like the fact that Donald Trump does not suggest sound-bit fixes when they are not appropriate. Now, bombing the hell out of ISIS is a sound-bit fix that is also an effective strategy! ;-)
“What is the single biggest cost of a university?”
Easy. Liberalism!
Its a problem that defys solution like finding the last digit of PI.
Trump wants to create jobs so that people can afford to pay back the loans once they graduate.
It is all smoke and mirrors. So much for the constitutional conservative right? This guy couldn’t begin to tell you what is in the constitution beyond the first 2 amendments but hey he has a plan right? Trust me
I meant expense category but I get your point.
I agree, his big fix is creating conditions for employment after graduation. Now kids have all this debt and few prospects. Not everything is a government program. If fact existing programs are part of the problem.
offered no specifics on what he would do about it......
isn’t this more or less par for the course
have the mexicans pay for it
we will do something “with heart”
etc...etc...etc...
TRUST ME this car gets 80 mpg...or something like that!!
There is no good sign there. He should flat out say that it is not the role of the federal government. If you can’t pay the loan back, don’t take out the loan. Oh wait. He can’t say that because he has not lived by it.
Taxpayers should not have to fund college or payoff loans. I paid thousands of dollars for tuition and now I am suppose to be punished for that? Too bad I didn’t just take out loans that I would never have to pay back, that I could get the government to rob my neighbor for repayment? If the gov’t pays of loans, I want a check to refund me for the tuition I paid.
In fact, less than two months ago,the businessman split from the maintstream conservative approach and told students the "only way" to make college affordable is to get government further involved.YES! YES! Get government more involved! That's the answer!
True conservative....
Trump sounds like Bernie Sanders when he was asked how he was going to pay for all the free stuff - trust me. Trust Trump just like Marla Maples did? He would never break his promises would he?
Amazing! That’s literally amazing!
Tell me, in light of this priceless information, in which direction should we all stampede?
Jeb Bush maybe? His leadership is tested and proven, and his hand is steady, much like his voice.
John Kasich? His daddy was a mailman, didn’t you know?
Chris Christie? He used to be a former federal prosecutor, and a federal prosecutor before that. That’s pretty impressive.
Marko Rubeo? For he is very geopolitical you know, and he speaks incredibly quickly which means he’s super SMRT.
Carly Fiorina perhaps? She is Hillary Clinton’s worst nightmare after all. Every night Hillary goes to sleep next to Huma, she sees Carly’s face, which truth be told, is slightly worse than Huma’s and her own.
I think I’ve covered everyone of importance there, right? I’m not forgetting anyone, am I? Surely you and about 6 other people will let me know until I throw up if I am, right?
No specifics? It will be great!
It will be so winning you will know it's terrific!
Trump!!!!
He does this time and again. He has no specifics. He just tells us to trust him and it will be terrific. The fact that FReepers fall for this is just... embarrassing.
