Half the problem with the conservative movement in general, and the Patriot movement in particular, is ineffective communication. Referring that article to someone not already simpathetic as part of a debate will only reinforce their opinion that these guys are just a bunch of dumb hicks who don’t even know the difference between “steel” and “steal”.
Defending the inability to communicate effectively, or worse being proud of it, does a disservice to the cause.
Spelling and grammar errors are common and are commonly ignored in forums like this one. It is all well and good carrying on a fast conversation with someone who already agrees, like me. Not so much if you are trying to present our case to someone who gets all their information from MSNBC and NPR and thinks they are smart because they agree with all the smart people on TV.
This article is fine fodder for those of us who side with the citizens against the feds(Yes. I read the whole thing and watched the videos too) and we are all willing to overlook the silly mistakes because we agree with their position. As a tool for convincing those inclined to support the government position, however, it is worse than useless.
“sympathetic” sorry but given the context, I had to chuckle
I side with them too. It is also often the case that men who spend their lives battling the elements to survive as ranchers or farmers or fishermen, don’t have time to spend on perfecting their “letters.” When the truth be told, they are among the most educated men in the world in their own fields and with regards to nature. Some book- educated youngster cannot hold a candlestick to their true wisdom.
