I’m thinking that Trump is not thinking up this stuff alone. I think his people probably told him, “Look, you’ve got a problem with this birther thing. You went after Obama, but you’re giving Cruz a pass. Sooner or later you’re going to be asked about it. YOu can say that let TEd Cruz handle it, or you can say, Ted has a problem that needs to be corrected. You don’t have to play that card unless you need too, but you might need to play it if he goes up in the polls.”
I think in the debate, Trump admitted, it’s an issue now because Cruz is up in the polls. Funny stuff.
