On Ted Cruz’s Canadian birth certificate, his mother is listed as Eleanor Darragh Wilson, using the last name of her first husband, Alan Wilson. The Fort Worth native and long-time resident of London, Wilson is now an unwitting player in the drama that surrounds Cruz’s family.
Wilson, who has never previously spoken about his past with the news media, told McClatchy in a telephone interview from London that he did not realize he was connected to the U.S. Texas senator, however indirect. He didn’t realize that his first wife, Eleanor, whose maiden name is Darragh, had such a well-known son, whose citizenship is at issue in the presidential campaign, or that “Wilson†is on the birth certificate.
“I’ll be darned,†said Wilson, who speaks in a soft tone with traces of his Texas origins. “No kidding. That is Eleanor’s son? I had no idea.†He said he knew that she “had married a man named Cruz†but little else and had not made the connection to the presidential candidate.
Cruz’s mother is at the center of an explosive issue in the GOP presidential primary, whether the Texas senator is eligible to be president. During Thursday night’s GOP debate, Cruz and New York billionaire Donald Trump battled over Cruz’s claim that he’s a “natural born†citizen, a requirement in the Constitution for any president.

Is there, or was there a residency and age requirement for an overseas citizen to confer citizenship?

Why would she put the Wilson name on the birth certificate instead of Cruz?
I don't know that it is. That's why the offer to pull if it's not.
But I recall a statute that a mother had to be resident in the US for 14years, 5 of which had to be after her 19th birthday, to automatically confer citizenship to a foreign born child.
Somebody will weigh in shortly and edify us.
Man, isn’t it great what the media can find when motivated? ubama’s birth information? Nope. ubama’s college information? Nope? ubama’s college friends? Nope.
But Ted Cruz? No stone unturned!
It is just such a mystery as to why this happens. . . not!

I saw this article earlier, and wondered the same thing. It's very strange.
It was treasonous what the media did with Obama's history.
I hope one day to be the hangman at their trial.
14 years of residence — not necessarily consecutive.

And 5 of that after 19yrs? Again, not consecutive...
Where was Cruz born? That is the only constitutional issue in Article II .
Lord knows, if all threads that had no relevance to anything were pulled this place would be barren! This is relevant because it is woven into Cruz’s birth status, and I find it quite interesting to learn that Wilson had no clue prior to this.
No stone will be unturned when Trump gets the nomination. Trump’s got a complicated history so they’ll be busy for some time.
The more I think about this, the more my head hurts.
Seriously though, is Cruz natural born (on the soil) or is his citizenship conferred on him by law? Whether or not there was paperwork, was his citizenship bestowed on him (an alien born on foreign soil) by government thereby making him naturalized?
Clearly that should disqualify you from holding any elective office or receiving any type of government pension including Social Security.
(I collect my first SS check next week)
