Republican presidential hopeful Ted Cruz issued an apology to "millions of New Yorkers" at a campaign event Friday - but it's probably not the one they were looking for.
"I apologize to the millions of New Yorkers who have been let down by liberal politicians," Cruz told an audience in South Carolina.

No, he did not start it - he was asked a question. Good God, you Cruzobots can’t even get facts straight. Yeah, Cruz is so smart that he believed Mitch McConnell over his staff who told him that Mitch was lying. He showed poor judgment, then went on the floor of the Senate to call Mitch a liar, when he was warned. Yeah, Cruz is so smart that he somehow forgot to include 2 loans on his FEC filings when running for the Senate. Cruz is so smart, that it wasn’t until 2014 that he realized he was a dual citizen. SHove your so smart candidate where the sun doesn’t shine. He looked like a fool last night and you know it. But, spin, spin, spin.
New Yorkers are from Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx...and Staten Island too.
You need to shut your piehole about New York.
You are claiming that DT is NOT an arrogant jerk, and you are calling me delusional?
That's pretty damn funny if you ask me.
I like Cruz more every day!!
So is your zealotry, it has blinded you.
Cruz gave an excellent response, yours it the type of post that gives credence to the Cruz people labeling Trump supporters as a cult.
By far.....and i even remember LBJ.
He isn’t as arrogant as St. Cruz. St., Cruz tries to hide it but his arrogance is starting to rear it’s ugly head. Spin, spin, spin.
You guys don’t act like confident supporters. You’re going to lose and you damn well know it.
I see, so it’s the values of liberal politicians only?
Did Rafael say anything about the values where he works in D.C.? How about Goldman Sachs?
Hah, you are delusional!
That’s fine by me. I love internecine, state-based rancor. During more than the first half of this country’s history, people used to define themselves moreso by their state than by the nation. When the populace started thinking more ‘national’ in scope, the more provencial matters and needs in terms of politics seem to have wilted. All while we’ve had greater acceptance of elite, faraway media dictating our agendas, and presidents gleefully getting away with executive orders.
I relish regional and state-based rancor. I love for my state of Texas to be specifically regarded disreputable. Keeps more of the lib trash from even considering moving here.
Not directing this at you don-o but just an observance after reading the responses here.
Hillary and the establishment GOPe is the objective to beat no?
Did you watch the debate?
Trump admitted he started the citizenship nonsense. He then went on to say he did it because Sen Cruz is gaining in the polls.
SHove your so smart candidate where the sun doesnât shine.
I guess this is one of those NY values, just be crude when nothing else is working. Oh wait a minute, I think I've seen this before:
Was it when Trump called Carly Farina ugly, or told her she was talking to much and should shut up?
Or was it when he mocked the reporter with the disability?
You’ve been on my favorites list for a long time. Now and then, I get down in the mud with our fellow Freep playmates but right now I’m thankful for Trump’s wipeout of the RINOs. I’m thankful for Ted Cruz for the many good things that he has already done and will do.
I credit Cruz for breaking Obama’s back in the showdown. He cornered Obama and showed him as the petty man he is.
Just six short months ago, Trump boasted about the 'good aspects' of Planned Parenthood. During the first debate, he promoted Single-Payer healthcare, bragged about buying off politicians, and described collusion with Hitlery and BJ Clinton or Natzi Pelosi as âpart of doing businessâ. Yep, heâs still âevolvingâ. Check the latest poll numbers on any given issue and he will âevolveâ some more.
I said today that as a guy who at this point supports Cruz, it was a dumb statement from a very intelligent guy. I even said if it was a larger thing than New York it could be a 47% kind of statement.
HOWEVER, what I find equally dumb, if not entirely disingenuous, is this faux outrage and concern and these outlandish statements that Ted Cruz hates New Yorkers or Ted Cruz disrespected 9-11 victims because Donald Trump decided to turn it into that.
The fact is, everyone here KNOWS that’s not what Cruz meant when he said “New York values” and outside of all this nonsense we’re arguing about right now almost everyone here AGREES with Ted Cruz about the cultural and political stench that is New York as a whole these days- not every person, but you don’t decide to fine employers $250,000 because they refuse to play fantasy and refer to a man as “miss, or ma’am” because your values are in line with conservatives or the people who believe in traditional values and Judeo Christian values, and constitutional values in this country. Same as the SAFE Act. Same as “we’ll dictate your soda size”. Same as DeBlasio. Same as Bloomberg. Same as Cuomo. Same as “we’ll criminalize selling cigarettes because that keeps us from getting tax money on them.” Same as gay pride parades. Same as Wall Street over Main Street. Same as greed, perversion, and decadence.
Everyone KNEW what Cruz meant, and almost everyone AGREES with him.
But because the Donald is running, and because the Donald is from New York, and because the Donald is so dreamy and wants to make it a flowery, emotional thing, well we also have to make it a flowery, emotional thing and get all hot and bothered because the mean, bigoted Texan talked bad about our new favorite state.
You are right. Cruz can now tie Trump to Cuomo and de Blasio. Wonder if someone can find a picture of Trump, de Blasio or Bloomberg, and Cuomo together.
Ditto that.
HAHAHAHA
