For some time now, people who believe in the theory of Donald Trump's inevitable demise have thought that he'd either say something so outrageous that voters would finally reject him or he'd perform so poorly in debates that voters would flee to more polished candidates. Well, it's safe to say that the outrageous comments theory had been discredited, and - after tonight's debate - it's clear that Trump isn't going to beat himself in direct competition with his colleagues. ...
The bottom line? Going into the debate, Trump had a solid lead. There was nothing that happened to dissuade Trump's followers. Indeed, he likely inspired the plurality that support him - persuading them that he's ready for more debates, including an ultimate confrontation with Hillary Clinton.

Pretty amazing, but Donald Trump is a master. Even Krauthammer was stunned that Cruz screwed up the NY values thing and awed at Trump’s response.

All Trump won last night from my perspective is confirmation that he’s not presidential material.
The politics of personal destruction with bogus claims often works but is rarely used by Republicans unless they are rotten to the core.

What is the point of attacking New York? When you call out someone’s values, that’s about as personal as it gets. I’m still trying to figure out what Cruz and his supporters hope to gain by trashing NYers. Nevermind the spill over attacks on the “weird coast’ as I’m seeing on social media. Cruz is running to be the leader of the Untied STATES of America....not just Texas or Iowa. Does he not know that NY has a heavy influence in Florida?
Sure, NYC has quite a few liberals running around, but....it’s a city of 7+ million, and also has millions of conservatives too. Then you have the NY transplants who have moved around the country. The blowback on this will sting
Thank you FRiend, and there will be more to come, and just to clarify, I have not posted anything negative about Ted Cruz, I was supporting him long before Trump entered the race, however I readily admit that I am more entrenched in the Trump camp now, but I’m not going to engage in any sniping at Cruz, that doesn’t mean that he is immune to criticism, when he’s right, he’s right, however if he is in error, I’ll call it like I see it. Likewise, I’m no rubber stamp for Trump, he has policy positions I don’t agree with, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t think he is the best candidate with the best chance to capture the nomination, win the general election, and turn America around.

This year I started with Cruz and switched to Trump. I am more dogmatically pro-Trump than you and probably more forgiving of his faults, mainly because I believe Trump on the all-important (to me) issue of immigration.
As for you, I have always respected you as an excellent poster here in FR.
