No, it was not an issue as far as I am aware, when he ran for Senate. I think the natural born citizen thing only applies to the President. I may be wrong.

You are correct it NBC only applies to POTUS. Senators and Representatives only need to be US citizens.

The people of TX didn't (generally) know he was born in Canada. I've read rumors of a suit for fraud, on his Senate campaign. The suit doesn't have a snowball's chance, but if it's filed, it's another pebble on the side of the "he's not qualified" side of the scale - erodes a few more of his votes.

"Citizen" is enough for senator. He's qualified for that office.

Sorry if any one has already replied to you. Natural born Citizen is the requirement for both the President and Vice President. Just those two. It isn’t just about divided loyalties - it is also because another country could (can) lay legal claim to the US President.
