BS: A tariff causes temporary inflation that is true but it reflects the true cost of offshoring manufacturing. The tariff raises revenue and helps balance the budget without raising income taxes. Tariffs pay the cost of the unemployed workforce, we either make our own stuff or we pay welfare(those people vote). I would prefer we become self sufficient as a country. But barring that, instead of printing money raising real revenue via tariffs is the way to go. Kill the Keynesian economics...
