With regard to New York, I work in Manhattan and I’m already getting text messages from co-workers who are livid about what Cruz said about New York.

What we need to remember here is that Cruz is running for president of the United States of America. Not Iowa. Not Texas. Not just the South. I get that New York is typically a “blue” state but we should not be writing it off. We, as conservatives, should be working to win it over. As with any other “blue area.”

Trump is already appealing to African Americans, Hispanics and other groups who normally vote Democrat. This is how we grow conservatism. Simply mocking and insulting the “other side” is no way to grow our cause.

Cruz really blew it tonight. Maybe he’s great for Texas but I think he forfeited his right to lead this nation with those anti-NY comments.

And yes, there are MANY conservatives in and around New York. The elections are not 100-0% for the Democrats. They are more around 60-40%. When you get to many of the NYC suburbs, it’s closer to 50-50. This part of the country can be turned red once again. It wasn’t too long ago that Ronald Reagan swept all of these “red states.”

We should not be writing them off.

Well said, Sam.

Cruz was baiting Trump with his campaign choreographed New York jab. A cheap shot that is going to cost him votes that he needs in South Carolina. Big time.
