After a week of spending "big" on television advertising, Donald J. Trump appears to be slowing his pace.
For his second week of advertising, Mr. Trump is spending roughly a third of what he did in his first week, with about $750,000 in reservations in Iowa and New Hampshire, according to multiple media buyers.
At the beginning of the month, Mr. Trump pledged to spend at least $2 million a week on advertising, and he did so for the first week.
But when it came time to renew or reserve new advertising, Mr. Trump is taking a more frugal approach, reserving about $315,000 in New Hampshire and $350,000 in Iowa.

America’s CEO
“Doing more with less”
Murphy is really screwing his donors by paying 2x to 10x the advertising rates compared to Trump for the exact same ad slots!

Trump can spend less money this week since he is PAYING up to 90% LESS than Mike Murphy and Right to Rise for the SAME ADVERTISING SPOTS.
The people who should be wailing are Mike Murphy’s donors.
Paying 10x more per ad spot than Trump? For the same show!
Trump’s goal is to advertise as much as it takes to win, and no more.
Something is being left out of the story. Broadcasters are obligated to sell advertising at the same rate to all candidates. Total buy prepay discount?
Political campaigns are notoriously slow payers - and many never completely pay off their debts. Trump gets a cash price.
Also, consultants/media advisers like Murphy get a percentage for buying ads. The higher the ad cost, the higher their take.
Can anyone spot corruption and self dealing in any of the above?
Change that just a little bit to make it logically consistent ... Broadcasters are obligated to offer to sell advertising at the same rate to all candidates.
Here are the contracts. Read ‘em and weep!

Stations can charge SuperPacs whatever they want. And Mike Murphy doesn’t care because he pockets a 15% ad commission regardless of how much he overpays for a spot.

Exactly. This isn’t who can spend the most. And he didn’t need a loan from Gokdman Sachs, either.
The more of other people's money he spends, the more he makes. Sounds like a government job to me!
That's because FCC regulations require to offer ad time to candidates at the "lowest unit rates" for a given time slot. That regulation does not apply to Super PACs.
Nope. All campaigns get the same price. Murphy pays a higher price because he is not buying for a campaign.
Yep. I hadn’t considered the possibility of legal theft! How Jeb! can make any public appearance without being ridiculed off the stage is mystifying.
Exactly. And Jeb cancelled most of his campaign’s advertising in New Hampshire so the vast majority of Jeb! focused advertising is costing 2x-10x more than Trump is paying for the same programs.
Also, part of Trump’s cutback on this station for this week was to drop Family Feud and only run on the news programs. Running ads on Family Feud is a waste and it was smart to cut it back.
