One of my 2x grand uncles fought for the Union in the Nevada cavalry; several of my wife's line fought for the Confederacy. Remarkably, all had family roots in Tennessee. My sympathies in that war really lie with people like Jimmy Stewart & family in the epic movie Shenandoah.
In my desk nearby, I have a stack of yearbooks from a school I attended. Our mascot was of an old, mustachioed Confederate veteran, and the teams known as the ‘rebels.’ Hence, those yearbooks all display the stars-and-bars. I couple this with my memories of driving around my grandfather cross-country to his old hometown in Georgia, where he doted over the various historical markers and such, that he nostalgically remembered. He loved history.
Hence, when Haley immediately joined up with the cultural-marxists of the Left, and framed these symbols to their demented definitions of ‘hatred’ and ‘Nazi-esque,’ which then started the ball rolling for more historical scrubbings of monuments, street-signs, etc., I couldn’t help but take it personally. As well as become alarmed at seeing such Mao-style efforts of cultural cleansing taking place right here and now in America. Haley totally empowered this. I have nothing but complete and unmittigated contempt for her.
