My family came to American a little bit after the Civil War, so I have NO dog in the hunt/no family memories involved.
I would have been an Abolitionist, if I had been alive and here, back then, but that's still NO reason to do away with the Confederate Flag, nor erase history !
Abolitionists were considered rabid dangerous animals in the mid 19th century. Slavery was the norm, status quo even up North. You cannot judge the people of the 19th century by 21st century standards.
Mixture here. One Parent=North; One parent= South and their children born in the south. So here stands a Southerner thru and thru. Enjoyed travel to the north during summer months and looked forward to the family driving up on vacation each year. People were different than southerners but they were still friendly and helpful. And my ancestors on both sides have fought in wars. WW and CIVIL War. That their death means little to nothing to TPTB makes for a thorough distaste of their ilk. Politics and distrust for all politicians is beginning to make me very ill. There is no difference in any of them. They truly are the lowest of the low.
