WASHINGTON— Donald Trump stepped up his attack on Sen Ted Cruz’s eligibility to run for president Wednesday calling for Cruz to drop out of the race.
Donald J Trump
@realDonaldTrump
"Sadly, there is no way that Ted Cruz can continue running in the Republican Primary unless he can erase doubt on eligibility. Dems will sue!"
Trump recently warned the GOP that if Cruz becomes the nominee ,the party would be risking the White House. Trump claims Democrats would hold up the election in court, litigating whether or not Cruz is considered a natural born citizen.
Trump’s views on Cruz’s eligibility have changed throughout the campaign.
The first time he was asked about Cruz’s Canadian birth in 2013, Trump, the loudest ‘birther’ questioning the legitimacy of President Barack Obama citizenship, wasn’t sure if Cruz was qualified. Trump was still not convinced last March, months before announcing his own bid for president. By September, Trump said he was confident Cruz had the legal standing to run.

[It will be interesting seeing how Cruz responds to this. Iâll bet the response will mostly consist of a nervous chuckle and a few words about how his mother was an American when he was born.]
Maybe he’ll post some more pictures of Fonz, or maybe read the Cat in the Hat to Trump.
Apparently 40 percent of Cruz’s supporters don’t even know he is Canuckistinian, and 25 percent are polled as believing that someone born outside the country shouldn’t be President, not even getting into whether they are NBCs or not.
So basically, a good chunk of his supporters, most of whom are the hand me downs from Ben Carson to begin with.
This line of attack makes no sense to me. What Cruz supporter will change their mind because of this?
Only 32% of Iowa Republicans think someone born in another country should be allowed to serve as President, to 47% who think such a person shouldn’t be allowed to serve as President. Among that segment of the Republican electorate who don’t think someone foreign born should be able to be President, Trump is crushing Cruz 40/14.
Thank you for admitting that Reagan was a Democrat.
Good then Cruz will win. Let’s see it. Fine with me.
But after the GOP just used the speech last night to attack Trump, F them all. Let the strongest junk yard dog win.
Why doesn't Trump go to court to get a declaratory judgement against Cruz as he has urged Cruz to do to himself?
So if the Mouth is so sure Cruz is not qualified to run why doesn’t the fool file a suit himself?
Come on Donald, quit your bitching put your money where your mouth is...
See how that works for you.

And while Trump is doing that - hey! How’s about he release all the intel he has from 2012 on Obama’s birth records???
He said then that he has that info. Where is it?

LOL -— I thing Trump has given that material to his good friend Geraldo Rivera to keep with the treasures that Geraldo recovered from the Mafia vault.
ah were only a few on the FROM Election Day 2016
the SCUTS calendar is likely brimming with cases that might just get in the ...way of this being heard?
who is going to take..this to any court?
when did I stop beating my pomeranian?
really!
I did not watch the SOTU or the GOPe response. I was busy picking lint out of my navel.
Wow on the lawsuit. But where does it say that Trump said Ted Cruz should leave the presidential race?
Your welcome, I did because that is the truth.
He was a Democrat, then a Republican, then the Reform party, then a Democrat, then a Republican, then Independent, and now because the wheel has stopped spinning a Republican again.
“Trump can’t win against Cruz on merit, Trump’s only play is to try to get him disqualified. “
Here is the thing with Trump. He will not win any evangelical states. Which means he will have to start spending money to create the firewall for Super Tuesday.
Trump will get all the squish Republicans, moderate Dems and people who are just too p’d off to vote for either party. Question then becomes, with Cruz getting the evangelicals and conservatives, Trump will have to fight against Rubio and the moderates. Can he siphon off enough votes to beat Cruz?
Dems have already brought suits against Cruz, Rubio and Jindal. They’ve gone nowhere. How many dozens were filed against Obama, all of which went nowhere.
And Trump can post a Photoshop of somebody picking his nose.
All this sounds like to me is that Trump is asking Cruz to clarify this issue to the point that everyone just drops it. Probably so he can make Cruz his running mate without having to deal with the issue himself.
As long as Cruz leaves his flank exposed, he’s going to take fire.
People’s varying opinions on this subject really do not matter.
What matters is if someone is granted standing to sue, and a court renders an opinion on it. THAT opinion will matter.
And if it is an unfavorable opinion at an inopportune time, guess what?
So the question is are voters willing to move forward with a person who has a lingering question over him, or are they willing to move forward with a person who does not have that lingering question?
That’s about where this thing is, and like I said, if he continues to leave his flank exposed, he’s going to continue to take fire, and I don’t think it matters how mad Cruz supporters get, or how mad Levin gets, or whatever else.
It’s up to Cruz to make sure his resume is in order.
Okay, so whatâs Ted doing about this?
That is the question that needs to be asked. Cruz needs to ask the Texas Attorney General file suit on his behalf and have this issue settled once and for all. The court will respond that relief requires a legislative remedy, not judicial.
The Congress knows this, and so does Cruz. He can’t survive a congressional decision..he’s made too many enemies...
Is Cruz so important to the future of the Republic that he is willing to put us through that fiasco? No he is not. He needs to step aside.
“Please reread my post. I didnât say his campaign has imploded.”
You said:
“...but it may be that those who have said Trump would eventually implode might have been right.”

Trump is the other side.
There are procedures for emergency appeals. Even a lower court win would help Cruz.
