WASHINGTON— Donald Trump stepped up his attack on Sen Ted Cruz’s eligibility to run for president Wednesday calling for Cruz to drop out of the race.
Donald J Trump
@realDonaldTrump
"Sadly, there is no way that Ted Cruz can continue running in the Republican Primary unless he can erase doubt on eligibility. Dems will sue!"
Trump recently warned the GOP that if Cruz becomes the nominee ,the party would be risking the White House. Trump claims Democrats would hold up the election in court, litigating whether or not Cruz is considered a natural born citizen.
Trump’s views on Cruz’s eligibility have changed throughout the campaign.
The first time he was asked about Cruz’s Canadian birth in 2013, Trump, the loudest ‘birther’ questioning the legitimacy of President Barack Obama citizenship, wasn’t sure if Cruz was qualified. Trump was still not convinced last March, months before announcing his own bid for president. By September, Trump said he was confident Cruz had the legal standing to run.

Gosh! And I would never have GUESSED you were a Cruz supporter!
(Of course, I’m joking. The relentless insults, both to OUR LEADING CANDIDATE and his supporters, gives you away).
Trump will say whatever he needs to, to win.
Trump acts just like a liberal, for them the ends justify the means. Wins the Nomination then quits the Race like Pee Rot!!!
The Senate, who hates Cruz, won’t declare him eligible as they did for mclame, with a unanimous vote. Why do they dislike junior so much I wonder? Could it be that he is as nasty as some of his supporters here?
Trump has a point...maybe it would be a good idea for Cruz to drop out. Trump may want to offer him the Attorney General position.
* Donald Trump gave over $100,000 to the Clinton Foundation. Despite the fact that he openly criticizes the foundation and the Clinton's lack of transparency regarding it. Now we don't have the exact numbers, we only know that his contributions number over $100,000 and under $250,000. Also this may be a good time to note that he personally supported Hillary Clinton's senate campaign.
* Over the years, he has consistently supported Democrats over Republicans. Since 1990, Trump has given $541,650 to Democrats-more than he gave to Republicans over the same period of time. Kind of odd for someone who claims to be such a gung ho Republican these days, wouldn't you say?
* In 2008, Donald Trump supported Obama's campaign. This one is pretty self-explanatory, but here's a quote from 2011 for good measure. "I was his biggest cheerleader," "If you go back three years, I'm saying, "Do a great job.' ... " "I thought he was a positive person, always,"
* Trump has switched parties at least five times since the 1980s. Three times since 2001. Trump is a new kind of politician. He's what the progressives call "party-fluid."
* His disgusting abuse of government power/eminent domain. Michelle Malkin has covered this extensively. Here's the thing, with Trump this isn't a one-time thing. It's seemingly an integral part of his business model. In 1997, he even went as far as to use eminent domain to try and evict an elderly widow-so that he could build a limousine parking lot. I hate to play identity politics here but...what a dick.
* Donald Trump, in 2000 supported gun control, abortion, higher taxes and socialized healthcare. Do I... Do I really need to add anything here?
* Donald Trump Stood against Pro-1st amendment Conservatives when facing radical Islam. Yep, Trump even went as far as to slam Pamela Gellar for her cartoon contest in Texas. Now, regardless of whether you think Pam Gellar's event is tasteless, the woman faced violence from radical Islam. I don't know a single, self-respecting Conservative who deemed it appropriate to slam her, standing arm-in-arm with angry Islamists. Not one. Unless you count Trump?
* He wants Oprah Winfrey on his ticket. Yes, the same Oprah who supported Obama, called all of his critics out as racist and yes, the same Oprah who said that all racists were white, and that they "all need to die." Welcome your new VP.
By the way, please do click on all those hyperlinks for yourself. Don't take my word for it. Do your own research. You'll find that everything there is in order. Now, with all of the evidence at hand, we're left with two possible conclusions. Either...
A) Donald Trump suffers from a severe split-personality disorder. Or...
B) Donald Trump is a fraud. A man devoid of principles who bases all of his decisions on the winds of political expediency.
At best, he's a bold, entertaining voice of opposition. At worst, he's a wolf in sheep's clothing.
Don't be fooled. Do your research.

Ha...had you at “Here’s”
I agree. But you were a little snarky telling me that I ought to start making calls if I thought it was important for people to know Cruz was born in Canada.
I'm not seeing the angle here. He had to be aware of Ogabe’s eligibility questions for the last 7 years. He may not have heard it from the media until Trump introduced the subject in 2012 over the heads of the leftist media that we have a usurper as POTUS......His constituents must have sent him tens of thousands of letters and emails detailing their concerns about Barry Soetoro.
Why is Ted Cruz or Marco Rubio in this race? It smacks of a nefarious narcissistic impulse imo.
I've had enough of foreigners in the highest offices of our land. We don't need to be electing questionable citizens, we need to be deporting them.
Well, that’s true! He’s practicing, I guess. And warning Hillary that he won’t back down.
Trump is Guiliani 2.0 with more money. New York liberal playing to peoples fantasies
Here's why Cruz is so universally despised among his peers:
When Cruz says he'll fight for a bill, he actually fights for the bill. When he says he'll do everything he can to repeal Obamacare, he means, he'll do everything he can to repeal Obamacare. These other Senators say they'll fight these battles, but they have no intention of really accomplishing anything. They hold show votes and dog and pony shows and nothing ever gets done. They fund every program they pretend to be against and send President Obama only the bills they know the President agrees with and wants to sign.
Senator Cruz's refusal to lie to his constituents and to the American People makes the rest of his congressional colleagues look bad. Voters in Arizona and Utah may well be wondering, "If Ted Cruz isn't afraid to stand up to the Obama Agenda, then why does my Senator seem so afraid"? Maybe its' because Hatch and McCain have no intention of living up to any of the promises they've made to you. Ted Cruz, by actually putting up a fight, made the cowardice or complicity of Republican Leadership obvious to every last one of their conservative constituents.
Senator Ted Cruz was supposed to be one of them. In fact, because he was "one of them" he was able to move up through their ranks and hold prestigious positions. Yet, Ted Cruz never quite fit in. I believe what these elitists hate the most is that they feel that Ted Cruz looks down on them. Ted Cruz doesn't respect them because they have money, or because they went to Harvard, or because they are men of power. Ted Cruz is motivated by principle, not class. Ted Cruz has a political agenda and a love of constitution that overrules loyalty to his ivy-league brethren. This "counter-establishment" that elites loathe, has recognized that Senator Cruz is exactly what they've been waiting for â they also know that this counter-culture of political insiders is more powerful than their establishment buddies realize, fueled by the freedom, conservative, and constitutionalist movements amongst the populace and composing the backbone of the grassroots of the party.
Ted Cruz is an ivy-league elite who, despite all indoctrination and peer-pressure, has continued to pursue his passion for principles derived from the enlightenment and from the United States Constitution. He doesn't care about being liked by the upper-class, to whom he was destined to be indentured. He demonstrates the hypocrisy of both the Democrat and Republican establishments and has pulled back the curtain for the American People. The elites fear the harm done to their power when the American People understand exactly how corrupt they are in wielding it and they have been utterly unable, no matter how many of them slither up to microphones to denounce him, to hurt his popularity with the American People.
Fear plus helplessness equals hate.
Only saw it (posted) just prior to writing back...
A good tactic is one your people enjoy.
And, let me see... Religion for Cruz is an Alinsky tactic. Yeh! that's right. I best get right on spreading that around.
I plead guilty to snarkiness; the birthers/Trupeteers have me a bit on edge...
I’m listening to carr now interviewing sessions and Carr is asking him why Cruz is hated too.
So you're a GOP/E & Mitch McConnell fan.
What a surprise, LOL.
Name on a plane is a hard work comment? Tacking on a comment about a Manhattan home is about hard work? You don't even believe that, but I guess you had to come back with something.
Also the super-rich donor-free "elites" should run for office is getting to be a well used talking-point, so here is my answer: For this election at this point in time, a self funded person, running as a nationalist,is the proper choice. The donor class today has evolved into globalists and the politicians are their lickspittles.
Cruz is a true religious, social conservative and that in no way is inconsistent - basis his votes - with being a globalist.
Donald Trump has single-handedly took on the leftist media and political correctness and rendered both of them in serious condition.
That alone would get my vote.
But he's also broached the subjects that no one, not even the so called conservatives on talk radio—Levin, Rush, etc. would talk about in any detail.
Illegal immigration and deportation
Securing our borders
Stopping Muslim immigration
Anchor babies —not citizens under the 14th Amendment
Exposing the fact that Ogabe has no legal documentation whatsoever to prove he's even a citizen of the U.S.
Trump's tour de force has taken these issues and more and put them FRONT AND CENTER in the national discussion. The lamentations of the leftist media and the uniparty notwithstanding.
No other candidate could do that, no other candidate would do that.
” A party cannot file for a declaratory judgment unless there is an actual “case or controversy.” Who would be the other party to the declaratory judgment action? Has any state registrar threatened to keep Cruz off of the ballot?
Just because Trump said that Cruz should file for a declaratory judgment, doesn’t mean that Cruz CAN file for a declaratory judgment.”
Quite correct. Trump is just playing disreputable electoral games. I am learning to dislike and disrespect Trump.
