WASHINGTON— Donald Trump stepped up his attack on Sen Ted Cruz’s eligibility to run for president Wednesday calling for Cruz to drop out of the race.
Donald J Trump
@realDonaldTrump
"Sadly, there is no way that Ted Cruz can continue running in the Republican Primary unless he can erase doubt on eligibility. Dems will sue!"
Trump recently warned the GOP that if Cruz becomes the nominee ,the party would be risking the White House. Trump claims Democrats would hold up the election in court, litigating whether or not Cruz is considered a natural born citizen.
Trump’s views on Cruz’s eligibility have changed throughout the campaign.
The first time he was asked about Cruz’s Canadian birth in 2013, Trump, the loudest ‘birther’ questioning the legitimacy of President Barack Obama citizenship, wasn’t sure if Cruz was qualified. Trump was still not convinced last March, months before announcing his own bid for president. By September, Trump said he was confident Cruz had the legal standing to run.

Always a worthy pastime!
Where is that picture of sign man had in his yard 4 years ago? VOTE FOR THE AMERICAN. I tell you, if this mess keeps up, he can use that sign again. LOL.
Darn that Smitty ;-) That’s a good kind of break, though, right?
I haven’t noticed anything similar to what you mentioned. Time will tell just who jumped what.
Take care....give Smitty an extra treat...for having such a cool name!
I agree with everything and will enjoy Trump using those tactics and terms on the Dems.
But I’m not seeing the twinkle.
No, I just married a smart guy.
He doesn’t go in for personality cults and he can see through bloviating BSers. Like his wife, he’s sticking with the conservative in the race.
This is a multi purpose attack for Trump and central to the immigration debate.
Next leg of the race, is being born on American soil all that you need to be natural born? Can an anchor baby become President? What about Rubio? Rubio is next. Birthright citizen is not enough. Rubio’s parents were not citizens when he was born.
I love this focus. Its good for America. In our quest to appeal as a diversified party, we have many candidates who may not be eligible. This is why liberal attorneys did the Presidential elibility piece in 2005, because they thought it wasn’t fair, it was too limiting to require our President to be Natural Born.
Keep it going Trump!
Totally, totally agree, don-o.
This thread has an entirely different tenor than previous Trump/Cruz threads.
There is still much bravado and malice from Trump die-hards but a lot of sensible people who like Cruz are now posting.
You said “He can’t survive a congressional decision” I took that to mean a vote. I’m I correct in that you were born overseas to a servicemember, or did you have children overseas. What is you position on their or your birthright?
You still have a hard on for Walker. Cruz was never your first choice.
Boy oh boy Cruz should have gotten this issue out of the way a long time ago.
This is Trump’s point. He is on the very short list for Veep. We need this cleared up ASAP.
I am perfectly happy to vote for Trump or Cruz or both in either order.
I like them both, I think they both have strengths and weaknesses, but I must also say there is NO WAY IN HE** I would vote for JEB! NEIN, NEIN, NEIN!
Far as them going after Cruz after letting the Won slide and the stunning hypocrisy of that... I expect nothing other than that.
That is exactly what is going to happen, they will double standard it all day long, and they do not give a wit about hypocrisy at all.
I expect that judges will grant standing where no standing was granted before, and everything they said previously will suddenly be forgotten.
Bunch of rat scoundrels in this country!
Is the declaratory judgment what McCain got? Yes, at the very least, go for that.
No, you are certainly not the only one.
Yep.
Trump grabs on to that weak spot and rips and tears until he takes chunks out, and he does not stop until you are at 3%, and then he makes fun of you for being at 3%.
Dude fights hard, and I respect him for that.
good graphic
I cannot see any way that this issue of Cruz’ citizenship can be resolved to the satisfaction of people who want to believe he’s not a citizen.
I’ve seen a lot of posts quoting this statute, this opinion, this ruling and nothing is definitive. I believe he is a citizen and qualified but people who don’t like him or prefer Trump won’t.
So unless Moses comes down from the mountain with a tablet, I don’t see how this can be resolved to everyone’s satisfaction.
