Yep, those boats were all armed and carrying more than enough firepower aboard to fend off the Iranians. It’s clear that some limp-willied Admiral ordered them to surrender to avoid a fight and thereby mess up Obama’s nuke deal.

I agree these sailors would have fought (and likely have fended off) the Iranians if given the go-ahead from their command.

Precisely, and it seems a bit unlikely that two boats both failed simultaneously, and nobody sent out some air support, or another boat.

In fact the CB90 has dual engines, so in order for both boats to be disabled 4 engines had to fail simultaneously. The suggestion that both boats ran out of fuel seems improbable. If it did happen it shows a level of incompetence hard to imagine.

Both boats should have been easily able to defend themselves if necessary. Hard to imagine that some guys with AK-47s in a fiberglass fishing boat would want to attack two boats each of which has mounted M240 machine guns, and possibly mounted 50 caliber machine guns.
