This isn’t about not letting in immigrants or being “nativists”.

This is about the recognition that our enemies our using immigrants as a weapon against us, and we are ill-equipped to fight it.

When immigrants went through Ellis Island they were examined, and quarantined, and if something in their background indicated that they were a subversive, they were not let in. We have no such processes in place.

But it is turning into a nativist movement. People are starting to examine issues and ideas they never thought about before. They are starting to look around the world and ask questions they have never asked before. Then they are looking around the country and drawing conclusions and judgments based on the way of life many are bringing here with them.

When you bring in a small amount of immigrants from very different cultures, the wave of the mainstream eventually consumes them and they more or less assimilate in most ways, certainly subsequent generations do. My husband was born to a Thai mother and Euro father. He is as American as apple pie. When the numbers are such that that effect no longer takes place, you are looking at very different immigration than we have ever seen.

Americans, young and old, are seeing this. It's registering.

We are in unchartered territory.

My guess, you are going to see a growing identitarianism movement in the American population further balkanizing the country.
