Who is Donald Trump?
American Thinker ^ | January 13, 2016 | Steve McCann

Posted on 01/13/2016 12:42:08 AM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

I applauded when Donald Trump jumped into the Republican presidential nominating fray. Here was someone with overwhelming national recognition due to his celebrity status, as well as someone who was politically independent due to his wealth. Someone of that stature could potentially drive a stake through the heart of the Republican establishment and forcefully blunt the folly of political correctness that has inundated American society. During the early stages of his campaign Trump exceeded all expectations in both of these arenas. However,as the novelty has begun to wear thin and his speeches and talking points have become annoyingly repetitive the question must be asked:who is Donald Trump?

.....he has dramatically changed positions on taxes, health care, gun control, labor unions, immigration and abortion over the past 20 years....there is no thinking person, much less a politician, that has not evolved in their approach and positions on various political issues over the years particularly as they get older and circumstances change.

While Trump's vacillations on issues over the years are not overly troubling on the surface, these dramatic evolutions do require a thought provoking examination of his character and who he truly is...

..In a deposition, conducted on December 19-20,2007,the following exchange between Trump and the attorney for the Defendant took place [Trump:I'm worth whatever I feel]:...

Over the years Trump has contributed enormous sums of money to individual Democrats and party campaign committees including the most unethical and partisan Senate Majority Leader in recent history-Harry Reid...[justifying]these contributions as being necessary to essentially buy influence in order to get his real estate projects etc. approved...

..but that does not explain when asked in February of 2014 who were his favorite journalists,he listed such liberal luminaries as: Maureen Dowd,Diane Sawyer,Andrea Peyser,George Stephanopoulis,Bob Scheiffer and Mika Brezinski...in 1999 when he quit the Republican Party saying, "I just believe the Republicans are just too crazy right."?......

Look at this. CRUZ SUPPORT STEALS TIP MONEY FROM PRO TRUMP WAITRESS.

I hear there’s a rumor, which I’m going to see if I can track down, that the man who stole the tip money was a Cruz supporter. The IHOP waitress was four square for Trump. They got into a heated debate, so he stole her tip money, and said, apparently in a note that he was going to send it to the Cruz campaign. Like I said, I don’t know if this is true or not.

You post a falsehood early on. Sen. Cruz has consistently been for a phase out of ethanol, and in 2014, introduced legislation to end the ethanol mandate, and the blendwall, with a five year phasout of the ethanol mandate.

You have believed trump’s lies.

Wait a minute.

Factual:Cruz is for Ethanol subsidies, but supports a phase out.

Trump is not for Ethanol phase out.

I fail to see your point, unless it’s to point out that Cruz is trying to overlap BOTH SIDES OF THE ISSUE. So he can say he’s for both positions.

Go take a bath, you’re reasoning stinks.

Staying home is NOT an option.

For *either* “side”.

Get out and vote as if your life and your country depends on it.

It does.

In 2008, I awoke on election day, to find my beloved dog, Izzy, *dying*.

I may have looked like nine of yards of hell and I definitely had a hard time choking back the tears at the poll, but dammit, I *went*.

And voted for that creep, McCain.

Nonetheless, there was no way I’d let anything, short of my own expiration, keep me from casting my vote.

trump is for the ethanol mandate. Forever. This subsidizes ethanol. Sen. Cruz is for a phase out to give thr industry time to adjust. He is against the long-term mandate that acts to subsidize ethanol.

When you have to resort to accusing people of envy and hate because they reject Donald Trump for his documented RECENT leftist leanings, then it only proves that you are out of gas, empty, bereft of arguments, hanging in the wind.

You have nothing to say about Trump to defend him, so you change the subject to the "haters" and "jealous" people who are actually only figments of your own mind.

Hey!

Guess what!

A guy who bought a trike from hubby last year went and got himself a Ridgie pup.

He already has a Basenji.

Maybe he got tired of me inviting his dog to visit...because my dogs were hungry.

;D

As for your understanding, why don’t you do what I did and find out for yourself where these two stand on ethanol by doing a bit of internet searching? Why trust me? You sure as hell can’t trust Trump. FIND OUT YOURSELF.

Makes sense.

It also explains why Priebus has been conciliatory towards Trump, and maybe why Trump has made some positive statements about the Republican hierarchy.

The Establishment doesn’t like Trump or Cruz, but if you need to cut a deal, you go to the guy who does deals, and who has a history of compromising his principles “to do business.”

It’s why Clinton could be managed by Newt, but not Obola.

“In short, Cruz is for Ethanol subsidies, TRump is not. That is my understanding. Is this true or not?”

I believe that Cruz is for phasing out ethanol mandates and Trump is for continuing them. From what I have read there are no ethanol subsidies.

TRump is for the subsidy. I told you I don’t know why. It’s the ONLY thing thus far about his positions that bother me.

Cruz is for a phase out, but that opens him up for people to say, you’re still for it. That’s clever, but the bottom line is Trump is in favor of the subsidy, Cruz is not. Trump jumped at the opening to tag Cruz as hedging. Whether he did or didn’t is immaterial. He opened himself up, just like the citizenship issue. CRuz should have put that dog to rest year’s ago.

SIR, THIS IS POLITICS. THIS ISN’T HOPSCOTCH OR DODGE BALL. THIS IS REAL TIME, GO AT IT TO WIN HARD BALL. AND THAT’S THAT. WHEN IT COME TO MISINFORMATION, STRAW MEN ETC HILLARY CLINTON AND OBAMA ARE THE BEST AT IT.

You’re factually wrong. trump is for the ethanol mandate that serves to subsidize ethanol. Sen. Cruz wants to end it after 5 years, and introduced legislation to that effect. That’s the actual fact.

trump initialay criticized Sen. Cruz for being against the mandate, then when he figured out Sen. Cruz was for a phaseout, he lied (as he usually the does) and said Sen. Cruz had flip flopped. But Sen. Cruz has had a consistent stand, shown by introducing legislation to that effect shortly after getting to the Senate. trump’s pro-mandate uniparty cronies in the Senate voted it down.

--- Stuff it Tommy boy. ---

You're out of arguments again, aren't you?

Is this what made you so angry?

Why should we trust him NOW about ANYTHING? Maybe he's lying NOW.

Two months ago Cruz was eligible. Now he's not.

Have the facts changed? No. Donald is worried about Cruz at #2.

So Trump changes his positions according to what's good for HIM.

Imagine that, from a guy who donated to Democrats for 20 years so he could do more business.

YOU can Trust Donald. Good luck with it.

I noticed that you didn't respond to the post.
