RHIBs, the smaller patrol (variation on the USCG Defender Class) or riverine warfare boats. Possibly the Mk.Vs the SEALs use, but at 10 Sailors between two boats it’s unlikely any SEALs were aboard.

True. Even a Liberty Launch takes a crew of three. Coxun, Bow Hook {Bosun aka driver} and an Engineman. That boat likely had at least two Gunner-mates, a Coxun, and engineman, and junior grade officer.

My question would be was the breakdown a result of maintenance deferred due to lack of funds, parts, or time due to not enough relief boats to rotate for maintenance.
