Thank you for pointing out the similar traits in both personalities of these two men. Multiculturalism has been ingrained within our two societies. There follows a tendency to cater to anything, that is not the cultural and usual norms of our countries. These two men seem to have an almost juvenile mentality in playing these games.
In Canadian politics it is the party that picks the leader, not the Canadian voter. Of course, by voting Liberal, the voters did pick Justin Trudeau indirectly. Only in his Quebec district/ riding did they have his name on the ballot. No where else in Canadian voting registers did his name appear.
The popular vote was 39% Liberal, 31% Conservative, 19% NDP. Previously the Conservatives got a majority with roughly the same figures- 39% Conservative and 31% Liberal.
A bit of a rant, for which I hope to be excused. We see the extravagant promises of Justin Trudeau/John McCallum re Syrian refugees being toned down. The conduct of some of the people in Europe must have put the fear of whatever into them.
