Naive kids do need guidance.
Elin Krantz was 27 years old. She may have been naive but she was not a kid.
What happened to her was awful just like it’s awful when it happens anywhere to anyone. My college sophomore is a nursing student and wanted to do a winter break session or summer session in Guatemala or Brazil.I was all like, “why?” because it’s something I never wanted to do as a kid/young adult/college student/ever. But she’s a better person than me. I discouraged it because I didn’t want to worry about her more than I already do plus we have needs right here she could do but they’re not a part of any college program.
So I told her when she graduates college and wants to travel as a nurse to some third world country then more power to her but until then, she’s not going unless she pays for it herself. I’ll still worry, I’ll still discourage her but, by then I won’t have a say in her decisions.
A 27 year old is not a child or a kid. She’s an adult and she made her choices, none of which included her being raped and murdered. I wouldn’t dream of telling my 25 and 23 year old children what they can and can’t do.The almost 20 year old and the 18 year old, yeah I can still do that to a certain extent. We have to prepare them for the world.
Some days I wouldn’t even dream of telling my 4.5 yr old what to do.
She is a chick, after all, and very headstrong.
