David Boren is allegedly discouraging his son, former U.S. Rep. Dan Boren, from running for governor in 2018.
David Boren is a Democrat whoâs headed the stateâs flagship university for two decades and has been Oklahomaâs governor and a U.S. senator.
He issued a statement in regards to reports that the younger Boren was considering running for governor in 2018, noting, âit is not a good idea.â
âI learned from media reports today that Dan Boren is considering a race for governor in 2018. I will advise against it,â David Boren said. âIn my opinion, it is not a good idea. I have had a policy of never endorsing or campaigning for any candidate for governor. I will continue that policy regardless of who the candidates may be.â
Current Republican Gov. Mary Fallin is term-limited and cannot seek another term in 2018. The open governorâs seat is expected to draw interest from several high-profile political hopefuls on both sides of the aisle.
Democrats have such a bad reputation there is not a ghost’s chance in hell.
And Dan was actually an old fashioned conservative rat. He retired because he was so out of step with his party (and evidently his father).
Any republican will win and as proof of that I offer the current governor, Mary Fallon. She’s just meh and really didn’t deserve to be reelected, but she was still better than the rat.
Oklahoma has 77 counties. Kerry and Obama (twice) failed to carry any one of those counties in three elections. The Oklahoma rats don’t feel they’ve left the party, but the party left them.
