We lived in El Dorado Hills CA until last year.
We looked at the Reno area and found housing to be expensive unless you moved quite far from Reno. We did like the area though. We ended up moving to upstate SC and love it here. Good luck.
The avocado bread?
Yes the avocado bread.
It’s almost identical to this one with some exceptions in *******:
(Please see: http://iamafoodblog.com/avocado-bread-like-banana-bread-but-with-avocados/ )
INgredients
1 1/4 cup flour***************
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg *********
pinch of salt
1/4 cup butter at room temp
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar *************
1 large egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla **********
1/2-1 cup mashed avocado (use one large or two small soft avocados)*********
1 teaspoon lime juice
about a 1/4 cup crushed walnuts optional (heat them for about 2 minutes in microwave)**********
Don’t be afraid to add a little extra flour if the mix looks to thin.
I reduced the total sugar, also used 1/2 light brown.
I put the wet ingredients with sugars in the mixer until smooth then folded in the flour. Ideally you want to see some of the flour streaks in the mix.
I put this into two of your smaller bread tins. Fill to about the rim. It will rise. I guess you can put it all in a regular bread pan. It will take a bit longer to bake.
The parchment paper works great and assures an even baking. Don’t worry about the ends just fold a piece over the middle leaving the sides open.
I put these in a convection at 325. I would increase toe 350 otherwise.
At 35 minutes check your bread. When it hit around 200 degrees and doesn’t leave anything on the thermometer or toothpick when you pull out, it’s done.
I let them sit IN THE PAN for around 15 minutes then just lift up with the parchment paper.
Cut upside down with bread knife.
This is a great recipe. Unlike banana breads which seems to sometimes never bake evenly and then dry, this remains moist.
Serve alone or with some real butter.
AVocados are really good for us, but I avoid buying them, because they’re usually way to hard and it takes a week or so to soften them, or they end up getting too soft and I throw them away.
I usually end up putting them on chili.
What I like about this recipe is that it’s fast.
Sam’s club usually has these big Calfornia Avocados, that soften up quickly. I use one big one per recipe.
Definitely, Cruz better as AG. Need stronger people for SCOTUS.
Definitely.
what is the problem with Cruz in the Senate?
Lawyers for AG are a dime a dozen.
A strong conservative voice in the senate is of great value. I have suggested Ted as part of a Trump Deal as VP but I think he can lead from the senate floor perhaps better.
He is young and still a strong contender down the road.
Thank you Nikos-am going to try this today. Thanks for the explicit instructions re baking.Glad the sugar was reduced. The recipes I saw had 1.5-2 cups in them.
This was a great rally! I haven’t seen any other candidate pull the Reno numbers Trump does. Jeb had less than fifty attend a small hotel conference room!
Reno is growing incredibly quickly, largely due to our decision to diversify our economy: mining, manufacturing, engineering, military, geothermal, logistics, technology, biotech, etc. Of course we’ll always have tourism and the billionaires in Incline Village. Every day I see different license plates: Texas, Oklahoma, Atlanta, Ohio, Maine, New York, etc. Every month, the medical practice I use most often announces the arrival of new doctors and staff.
I barely recognize the city from when we moved here over a decade ago, and the changes worked out pretty well given the boom and bust economic cycle that stuck to this region since the Comstock days.
A "strong conservative" would be wonderful in the Senate. Critical, actually. I think that means someone who can stand his ground on conservative issues. I think that doesn't mean someone who'll vote the wrong way and weasel-word his excuse by saying, "I believed what Mitch McConnell told me." But that's just me; I could be wrong.
The Time interview is not as positive as Trump made it sound. It is sort of sneaky. OK, subtle. They don’t really like Trump (surprise).
Yeah, I always cut back on the sugar. Even the barefoot contessa’s.
The second time I made this I doubled the ingredients. I like the little 5.75” X 3” tins. YOu can find them everywhere. LIke BBB. I used to just spray them a little with olive oil but the parchment paper works the best and I think gives you an even heat while keeping the moisture in.
Let me know what you think.
Have you seen the banana bread recipe from America’s Test Kitchen?
http://www.madeinmykitchen.com/2013/07/americas-test-kitchen-ultimate-banana.html
YOu can many times find these yucky ripe bananas at some smaller grocery stores or even ask the guy to save them for you instead of throwing away. I’ll heat them up like it says here, then store the juice away in freezer to use later if I have too much. But I like this recipe. NOt as fool proof as the avocado as it you have to be careful not to over bake and it’s dry.
I think he’s a guy who likes truth, and the article is, let’s face it, not totally flattering, but most important it admits in a convincing way that something is happening in Washington. The middle men, the pundit, the eGOP, the regulars have run across a guy who embodies what has happened in our country, ie Netflix cuts out the video store, Craig’s List the ads in newspapers, the big bugs going to pollster’s etc.
People are scrambling to get on board his wagon.
However, I’m of the opinion that Trump needs everyone. I know, I know...but Karl Rove and all the others, might teach him something. And what’s wrong with a great speech writer or two now and then? I mean frankly, I’m getting tired of hearing about Carl Icahn every night, and taking the “incoming”....
I can’t wait for the New York Polls and when Trump appear at the Bret Bair table with Charles K and George Will. YOu know he will if invited.
Good point
You are no doubt correct
Interesting how the crowds change character ever so slightly. This crowd seems like a real good-time group. They are having a party.
Also it’s a Sunday afternoon. I find that the Internet is busier then in general.
I have Windham, NH, for Monday, but no time.
Alfredo Sauce is Italian. It got popularized here though.
It should be on the stands sometime Monday. I had a hard time finding it. Barnes & Noble didn’t even have it. Finally found one newsstand where the guy had a good delivery connection. Nothing is easy in New York.
