Mexico's government aims to fulfill a request from the United States to extradite the newly-recaptured drug lord Joaquin "Chapo" Guzman to face drug trafficking charges, sources familiar with the situation said on Saturday.
The Mexican Attorney General's office will be working as fast as possible to establish the path to extradition, and Chapo could be extradited by mid-year, one of the sources said. However the timing will likely depend on any injunctions filed by Guzman´s lawyers.

Zero wants Chapo so that he can appoint him as his next Attorney General. Hasn’t he already proclaimed his citizenship by execute fiat? I’m sure he has already been pardoned.

Guzman will now be governor of Colorado?
To: umgud
They don’t have the death penalty and won’t extradite someone who could face the death penalty. But they also don’t have a Florence Ssupermax prison. Doubt if El Chapo will tunnel/bribe his way out of that!

He’ll come to the US so Obama can pardon him. After all, we shouldn’t be locking people up for minor drug offenses, right?

Keep Chapo. Send us the afluenza puke!

Muslim terrorists who helped kill law abiding Americans are set free (Gitmo) but we will pay millions to get and keep this guy in our prison? We enabled this guy via the War on Drugs. I suspect his biggest crime is not bowing to Obama.

I wonder how many F&F guns where sold to his cartel? They told Holder last time no way chapo would be extradited here.
Now he will be.......hmm

I want to see him tunnel out of that supermax prison in Colorado. Never mind supermax prisons. Just about any ordinary prison will do. Because American prison guards are a lot harder to bribe than Mexican ones. And unlike in Mexico, being convicted of murdering a prison guard (or anyone at all) stateside means a date with Old Sparky.

Guzman will be Hillary’s running mate.
To: bkopto
They’d better fast track that paperwork-El Chapo has already escaped from that prison by way of a tunnel-and a lot of bribes-this time he’ll probably just pay more bribes to officials and walk out the front door-he can’t do that if he’s in a supermax here in the US...

They'll put him in a Mexican prison and he'll get out again - he's already done it twice. Stick him in an American SuperMax prison and throw away the key - he's committed a number of crimes under US law and he's answerable to US law. And warehousing one more prisoner is a small price compared to the damage this guy can do running around heading the Sinaloa cartel after he breaks out of a Mexican prison again.
