Eleanor Darragh, mother of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 97% , was born in Delaware on Nov. 23, 1934, establishing her citizenship by birth-and, according to U.S. law, that of her son, even though he was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, on Dec. 22, 1970.

The Cruz for President campaign provided Breitbart News exclusively with the birth certificate.

why did the same people who wrote the Constitution include in the very first law concerning citizenship a statement that the children of citizens born outside of the country were "natural born citizens".

Well mainly because they didn't do that.

The US Senate will be a terrible place without people like Jeff Sessions, Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, etc.

The Naturalization Act of 17908× provided that “the children of citizens of the United States, that may be born beyond sea, or out of the limits of the United States, shall be considered as natural born citizens: Provided, That the right of citizenship shall not descend to persons whose fathers have never been resident in the United States . . . .”

This Law of the Land was passed in a Congress containing many of the same people who wrote the Constitution, Achmed not withstanding.

You Trump people are pitiful.

If the Supreme Court has ever defined natural born citizen, post a link to the decision!

Do you have documentation proving that Trump was NOT born by caesarian section? If he was born by caesarian, that’s not a natural birth so, in that case, Trump would not be a natural born citizen.

The FS-240 is the real document needed to close the argument.

No it's not.

“A child born abroad to one U.S. citizen parent and one alien parent acquires U.S. citizenship at birth under Section 301(g)

Citizenship is not the issue. NBC is the issue and for a couple hundred years any school kid could tell you what that meant, it took a Kenyan and a bunch of lawyers and judges to muddy up the clear meaning of English.

Nothing has changed. It is just something that the Clinton machine might bring up.
********************************************************************************
Do you mean that the Clinton machine will bring up the fact that Ted Cruz was born to his mother who was an American citizen? Darn...we’re going to lose the election!

"Okay then. We don’t have to worry about Trump’s birth... it was obviously in Bethlehem."

Well, someone did post a vanity comparing him to Jesus throwing the moneychangers out of the temple.

No, I’m an American citizen. My grandparents on my dad’s side immigrated at the end of the 1800’s from Portugal. My mom’s parents also immigrated, one from Sweden, one from Germany.

Because it’s the process that’s supposed to be followed on the birth of a child overseas if you intend them to have their citizenship validated.

Ted's and his Mom's birth certificates validate that he is a citizen.

In 1795 the Act was revised to read:

shall be considered as citizens of the United States.

The term natural born was omitted for some reason. Certainly in the late 1700s, enough of the original authors of the Constitution were around to assume that they had input on both the 1790 and 1795 Acts. Were they the ones who influenced the original inclusion of the phrase or were they who removed the phrase, or was it just by unintentional omission? Unfortunately there is no recorded documentation as to why the phrase was omitted in the 1795 version.

No amount of you posting your opinion on law is going to change the fact that Cruz is a Constitutional scholar and litigator with a winning record before SCOTUS.
