In 2008, the situation was very different: he was wading into a case that had no immediate connection to Texas at all. But to see the signature of R. Ted Cruz on the brief would not have surprised the nine Supreme Court justices in the least. By that time, Cruz had been solicitor general for five years, and inserting himself into a case of wide prominence and importance regardless of any direct tie to Texas had become part of his playbook. He clearly saw the Heller case as a watershed in gun rights, writing that it would âdetermine whether the Second Amendment has any modern relevance.â And he was right. The Supreme Court in a 5-4 decision shot down the Washington, D.C., handgun ban and ruled for the first time in the history of this country that the amendment ensures an individual personâs right to have a gun for self-defense. The National Rifle Association recognized Cruzâs role with a resolution.

That's fine. Those are the names either the press or people like John McCain has called me. It's a badge of honor.
And the others, who claim to be pro-Second Amendment, hate him for it.
So one minute he’s an ideologue and the next he’s an inconsistent phony conservative? Sure, whatever.
This literally sounds like the same practices of the largest home builder here in Idaho who also used bankruptcy laws to save his business.
He must be following the Trump playbook. No wonder why he's so successful.
Sounds just like Debartlow
Trump is for Trump.
Who are YOU for?
He participated in a free market education foundation where he learned from the economic greats like Milton Friedman, Friedrich Hayek, Fredericic Bastiat and Ludwig von Mises. He went out and spoke to groups about the free market from the age of 13.
Ted learned to be Ted Cruz his whole life.
Not too shabby.
I heard he ate maple syrup once /s
Do you expect the Knee-Jerk read meat eating, my way or highway, non-thinkers to actually read something?
Cruz, IMHO, is the first real conservative we have had the opportunity to vote for since 1984.
I couldn’t agree more. Cruz is the answer to prayer.
And was quite tasty!
Funniest thing I have seen in ages was a Freeper, posted Jeb bush always looks like he just detected a fart, and Ted always looks like he just dealt it! LOL
In 2008, what was trump doing for the 2nd Amendment? Or doing to it!?
If and when Ted wins the presidency I know I can count on him to clear the rats nest out from top top bottom.
The Don?
Not so much.
Many made money, but many of them lost their investments in trump’s various corporate bankruptcies and other failed ventures, and sometimes, even in his successful ones.
Trump.
Why should I put my trust in ANYONE from the Senate or Congress?
I trust the fighter that fights alone, with my back, for the cause.
I voted 3 times to get this guy here.
A conservative writing bills in a GOPe Congress. Where do you expect them to go? Oh I see. Trump would write them so the GOPe would give them their blessing. In fact his bills would be so good Obama would sign them. A+++.
BTW since when did Trump become part of the teabag movement?
Ted is the RESULT of the teabag movement, and he aint let me down.
I ADMIT WE A HAVE A PROBLEM OF SALEABILITY IN THE GENERAL ELECTION, BUT Trump has demonstrated that people are PISSED
We all hate the last 7 years, even those that voted for it.
Oh Ted is the steadfast dark horse here
