The fact she has to call in cousins plus lack of mention of a father suggests she’s a single mother trying to prevent her daughter from repeating her mistakes.
And as a mom, I think she did just fine protecting her daughter.
Except she only attacked the boy. That tells me she thinks her daughter is innocent of the crime.

That’s just plain ridiculous when by then and probably long before that incident, the girl was getting biz-ay behind Mommy’s back. Yeah, a great job of “protecting her daughter” when the perfect little angel will probably do it again and again, knowing how wonderful a thing it is. The mother did NOTHING to protect her daughter and she FAILED as a parent.
