Cruz sponsored legislation in 2014 for the 5 year phase out of ethanol subsidies and mandates. He has changed nothing. No responsible person would cause the collapse of an entire industry without a transitional phase out.

The person who reported this story has retracted and corrected it, BTW.

Did the legislation have any prayer of passing, or was it just another example of Ted's tilting at windmills to put something on the record that had no chance of passing. The Iowa folks were apparently confused:

[...] Farmers and rural communities across Iowa are going to be encouraged by Sen. Cruz's remarks. He is clearly listening to the people of Iowa and understands the importance of the Renewable Fuel Standard to Americas economy and energy independence, as he started the caucus process calling for immediate repeal.

Maybe Ted is also confused as to what his position is/was, or probably he did start out for immediate repeal and then changed to a different position after getting push back.

Ted often seems to take a position, then get push back, then recall some different position from a previous year or from his senate campaign. Or he adopts a new position entirely. Has happened several times since his announcing for the presidency.
