FYI, this was settled by the Apostles in Acts 15, standing up to the believing Pharisees who demanded that men be "circumcised and keep the law of Moses."

What the council was opposed to was the false man made “oral Torah” that imposed hundreds of nit picking ‘ordinances’ on the people “the burden that no man could bear,” such as “the washing of the hands” and the order one had to put on their socks and shoes. The Takanot and Ma’assim, and the imposition of circumcision.
The council’s recommendation to the new believers was To hear Moses read every Sabbath day in their synagogue.
