That sort of scorched-earch ideological purity test is the reason why we've had a succession of poor R candidates. No man is perfect (including St. Ted) but the rule is you nominate the most conservative electable candidate. For all his potential virtues (and there are many), I've yet to see a credible argument of how he garners the required 270 electoral votes.

You nailed it exactly. If Hitlery is elected, it is CW II before she finishes her term. And it may be CW II anyway, even if Trump or Cruz is elected, just farther down the road. The divide in this country is irreconcilable, in my opinion.
