Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz not only leads in Iowa, but also in California:
A new Field Poll in California finds Ted Cruz has surged ahead of his GOP presidential rivals with 25%, followed by Donald Trump at 23%, Marco Rubio at 13%, Ben Carson at 9%, Rand Paul at 6%, and Jeb Bush at 4%.
And that isn't the only good news in this poll for Cruz. It also shows that he's now twice as likely to be GOP voters' second choice. This means that he will continue to surge if (or when) some of his rivals get out of the race, which they'll undoubtedly do once they lose (big-time) in Iowa.
Cruz's surge comes despite relentless attacks from his rivals for the Republican nomination and establishment-friendly columnists like the Washington Post's Jennifer Rubin.
And that proves that 2016 will be different from other years. Until this election season, negative attacks from establishmentarians against real conservatives were always successful, which is how moderates like John McCain and Mitt Romney ended up being the Republican nominee. Not anymore. The establishment tried to take out Donald Trump, which only resulted in him rising in the polls. Now they're going after Cruz, and the results are the same. He's stronger than ever before and actually seems to be relishing the attacks.
Regardless, the assault on Cruz will almost certainly continue: the establishment doesn't have another card to play. Attempts to burnish their own appeal aren't working because conservatives have completely had it with them.

“Cruz and trump now sit atop the Republican presidential field in California. But, other poll data Show trump to be in a much weaker Position among this state’s Republicans, as well as its overall Electorate.
-snip-
Despite the closeness of the standings between Cruz and Trump, other results from the poll indicate that Trump is in a weaker position than Cruz, and in some respects Rubio, among all GOP voters, as well as the broader statewide electorate. For example, just 11% of likely GOP voters name Trump as their second choice preference for president, while twice as many (22%) say this in regard to Cruz. Another 14% choose Rubio as their second choice.
-snip-
When GOP voters are asked what their reactions would be should each of six Republican candidates become their party’s standard-bearer, there is greater anxiety about Trump than any of the other leading GOP candidates. While 55% of Republicans say they would be enthusiastic or satisfied if Trump were to win the Republican presidential nomination, greater than four in ten (43%) would be dissatisfied or upset. By comparison, 74% would be enthusiastic or satisfied should Cruz win the nomination, while just 21% of the state’s Republican electorate would be dissatisfied or upset. In addition, 67% of Republicans would be enthusiastic or satisfied with Rubio as their nominee, while just 24% would be dissatisfied or upset. “

“Here’s a clue: a lot of Cruz supporters are guilty of the same thing.”.
It blows my mind that these people go around calling trump supporters names on a daily basis, and then will sit there and flat-out say it was not them!
The behavior they exhibited the past three months is the stuff you would expect from leftist Democrats!
Good news for Cruz and Trump supporters show up to talk trash about Cruz. If you want to make the case that this doesn’t happen, your silence will speak louder that your trash.
This is an amazing development if really true. In any case it looks like Cruz or Trump.
LOL. You mean the The Trumpettes?
Oh, it’s you again.
.... the rudeness of Trump people against the supporters of the conservative in the race have turned me sour on Trump.
Me too plus their willingness to excuse or deny anything he says or does, bigger factor for me.
I was warned of the name calling (but they so love that about Trump), and the searching of old threads to dig up something on you. Happened to me, years old thread popped up saying “Ask Cruz”.
Two ..make that Three,... No, FOUR Words...
Ronald Reagan...Republican...California
I will support Trump or Cruz as my posts will confirm. My first choice is Trump and my close second is Cruz.
I am not happy with either the extreme Trump supporters or Cruz supporters, there are both, trying to bring down the other at this point. We should be ecstatic that we have the most non-establishment candidates at the top of the presidential polls ever! Support the candidate of your choice but let us not try to destroy the two from either side. Keep the eye on the ball and that is not to allow an establishment candidate win.

Amen, my fellow FReeper. Some folks just can’t stand it now that we have the GOPe candidates where we want them...way down at the bottom.
.... many of us on the Trump side are far sour to Cruz because off the core group of juveniles that claim to be so upright and true on this site.
And you cannot say so without belittling us.
I understand you don’t care who Trump really is or what he would actually do if elected.
I actually turned a friend who was Trump supporter this week with a few facts he didn’t know. Preview of things to come.
Just curious, what evidence has brought you to that conclusion? (Comments made in the echo chamber do not count).
Maybe because some go for the show. He is a reality star.
Bwahahaha!
“if Cruzâs surge is real why are his crowd not as large as Trumpâs?
I think you just answered your question. :-)
except now that trump has started trashing Cruz, I guess all bets are off, right?
you mean like trumpeters, trumpsters, things like that? If I’m feeling espectially froggy I might even type trumpeter swans because I think it’s a clever (or not) play on words about the braying and bleating that y’all do. (Side note: I agree that Trumpanzees is over the top.) But as far as the others...man up, cowboy! There’s nothing derogatory about those others. I know in my case, I almost always refer to y’all as trumpeters because it’s easier to type than “Trump supporters” every time. I mean, really? That’s what’s got your knickers in a twist? How do you feel safe to go outside, if that’s what has you quaking in your boots?
I have seen more Trump supporters on FR that say they don’t mind Cruz if Trump fails than I see Cruz supporters saying they won’t mind Trump if Cruz fails.
I’m for Trump because I believe he has a proven himself a capable executive leader. He rarely uses the ‘I’ and often uses the concept of executive leadership. To Wit: He will select skilled and capable people to help him govern the country.
I’m for Cruz if Trump fails because Cruz is an honorable man of his word and has proven conservative credentials and has American interest deeply embedded in his heart.
I prefer Trump because in the state America is in today I believe proven leadership on the scale such as Trump is needed.
“But as far as the others...man up, cowboy!”
Be sure to tell the Cruz supporters that. They can dish it out, but they sure as hell hate I when it comes back at them.
“I almost always refer to yâall as trumpeters because itâs easier to type than âTrump supportersâ every time”
I go out of my way to say Cruz supporters because I assumed that making up retarded names was rude. Go figure.
“Thatâs whatâs got your knickers in a twist? How do you feel safe to go outside, if thatâs what has you quaking in your boots?”
And close with a juvenile statement of fake bravado.
The perfect Cruz supporter post.
As many times as Cruz people run their mouths, I have no problem responding to them.
Wow, I bet you’re a hoot at parties. There was nothing but good natured b@ll busting in my post and you still have you’re knickers in a twist. It must suck to take yourself so seriously.
