Cruz Goes Full Jeff Sessions — and It’s Great
National Review ^ | January 5, 2016 | Rich Lowry

Ted Cruz's shift to the right on immigration (until recently he was a full-throated supporter of greater legal immigration) and his embrace of the economic argument on immigration are both very welcome. Check out this clever ad:

Watch the ad: Invasion (Video)

He's also now (rightly) criticized Trump for supporting a de facto amnesty with his proposal to deport everyone and bring many formerly illegal immigrants back into the country.

Hate to say it, but H1-B Ted is starting to look like the establishment’s fallback guy to keep hope alive for the amnesty express.

National Revue is a continuing hit piece against Trump.
Wowee for Cruz! Trump went to Jeff Sessions for assistance on his statement and now CopyCat Cruz is doing what he does, copycatting Trump! Cruz is just another slick tongued Washington politician-lawyer.

You know what the problem with lawyers is?

They’re lawyers.

Just read about Cruz's wife and the CFR and his quitting that Republican organization lower him in my estimation to that of part of the establishment. That and all the big-wig money he has been accepting. IMHO that means he is bought and paid for.

I agree. I always have thought he was their last resort.

Without Trump, Ted was satisfied to put off the question of what to do about the illegals that were here until after the border was secure.

Without Trump, Ted wouldn’t have been under any pressure to tack right on all that “secure the border” business. If Trump had not made an issue of it and become as prominent as he is, illegal immigration wouldn’t even be an issue in this election.

Well you SHOULD hate to say it, because it is NOT TRUE. But you probably know that, don’t you.

Yup. He always dodged the question and said “that will come later, first we secure the border.” IOW dodging the issue and now he playing the snow white anti-amnesty gig. I think he’s a pretty lousy actor, and should stick to lawyering.

Correction: Without Cruz we would already have amnesty:

"We stopped the Gang of Eight bill. Ted Cruz led the fight against the establishment would be living under amnesty right now if Cruz had not succeeded." - Rush Limbaugh.

"It was that close to being passed... and I think I can say this with integrity. Without the vigorous opposition of Ted Cruz, this bill likely would have passed." - Sen. Jeff Sessions

Without Trump, Ted was satisfied to put off the question of what to do about the illegals that were here until after the border was secure.

Trump's answer has been deport them all, but then he follows that with the weasel words "expedite them back".

If Trump wasn't saying that, there wouldn't be a problem.

And you're right. Competition between candidates is a good thing.

Yeah, and without Trump, the 2016 political race FR threads would be all about Jeb, Huckster, Crispy, Paul, and Cruz.
